If still an issue, let's do the rest here.

Additional steps to be taken if you continue to have the problem (if they are posted)…

  1. If needed and you assigned a static IP address, try using 8.8.8.8 for the Preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 as the Alternate DNS server in the printer.

Do not do.

  1. Wireless printers only work on the 2.4Ghz wireless band not the 5.0Ghz band.
  2. Verify the printer is on the latest firmware by checking with the HP Support site.
  3. Check all wireless devices in your home for interference. Check microwaves, baby monitors, wireless phones and wireless alarm systems are a big culprit.  Any of these will knock out your wireless printer intermittently.
  4. Make sure your printer and router are at least 5 feet apart from each other.

In the router: (Refer to your router manual for information)

  1. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
  2. Set router to 20Mhz bandwidth only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
  3. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal-PSK) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
  4. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security. Nobody can hack your system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
  5. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same, they must be different for all bands including all Guest networks.
  6. SSID broadcast must be enabled.
  7. Always make sure your router is on the latest firmware.
  8. Save all settings. Power off both, wait 2 mins.  Power on router wait 2 mins.
  9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.

This is it.  If no joy  post back.  I think we are done.

This really sucks! I don't have 5.0 band 😫😭😭😭😭 so sad I have to returned it.

Do do you think is the PRI ter? Or if I exchange it for the Sam done would be the same problemm?

I found the DNS of the router.. what if I put that one instead of automatic or google one? IMG_2620.JPG

I mean I went through the router list and everything is like is suppose to be .. the printer can néctar to 2.4 ghz

im so sad because I sign up for the ink program and so much hours and tries for nothing

Your ISP DNS servers are fine.

No wireless printers support the 5.0Ghz band so don't worry about that.  They are all 2.4Ghz and your computer on a 5.0 band will talk to the printer.

OK with all we have done, and you have done great with all those pics of your status, I think your router is OK as nothing else is having an issue.

I have to suspect the printer to be at fault.   You gave it your best.   Having Windows Vista doesn't help ;-), as it is really old.

I would take the unit back for a swap first.  Then come back and try again.  One good thing, your router is all set up so you don't have to worry about that.

Using DHCP first to get connected is fine for testing,, which means is should stay connected for a few hours.  It's when the printer goes to sleep is usually the issue.  That's when you want to switch to a static IP.

Sending you a PM...

Thank you for all your support and patience. I really hope is the printer.

So i do need the computer for the printer to work. I'm just thinking what if my cousin brings her MAC pro so I can do he installation? Like I said before we never have the computer on because we never use it, this is why is so old, we don't use computers or laptops.

Thank you again! Will do the exchange and update you tomorrow. Now is closed.

I'm not jumping on a new computer as it is disconnecting from the router (but it would help).  You could turn your computer off and it will still disconnect from the router and that is the issue.

Well, if you really don't need wireless, you can install via USB cable and try that.

Thanks for the highly detailed settings and instructions listed in the thread.

I found my problem to be exactly the same as the title afer few minutes printer disconnected, and having to cylce the power on the printer to get it to work for a few minutes.  I am on day 3 of ownership.  I was about to return the printer if this thread did not fix my issue.

I found my static IP addrss range (per the posts above, read between the lines) and set the Static IP in the printer web enabled window on my computer.  Also available to set this on the printer's display, but laptop was way easier to navigate.  I tried to set a Static IP @ 192.168.1.100, not realizing that .100 was in the DHCP range.  1-49 were looking like a better choice so I tried .45 and was successfull in maintaining connetion/ fully functional.

It seems to be working so far about 30 minutes with no errors on the laptop and the phine (Android) is still able to print thru the All in One HP app.

thanks!
