I have the same problem as the folks at the end of the string.  It'll print after a fashion with a lot of coaxing.  Any suggestions?

The 990c driver solved the wide text problem.  Installed using USB0001 port.  Working now.

Yes!!

That combination worked.

Thanks much.

YES!  The Deskjet 990C driver using USB port 001 works and now the fonts are printing correctly!  I'm so glad I can continue to use my ancient yet reliable printer with my new laptop.

ooops- one additional problem.  After a document is printed, it is now followed by a page which says

GET /DevMgmt?ProductConfigDyn.xml HTTP/1.1

HOST:

over and over again.

Since this is wasting paper, any ideas for how I make this 'feature' stop?

thanks so much to whoever can point me in the right direction!

Printing of garbage pages now fixed! This is is what I did:

- Goto Printer Folder and select the printer

- Right click and select "Printer properties"

- Goto "Device Settings" tab

- Two-Sided Printing: Not Installed  (previously was listed as Installed)

I was about to trash my old reliable 6122.  HP provides no drivers for Windows 10.  But....a friend suggested and I tried...........right click on the Word Icon.  Go to Preferences and under the sub menu of compatibility.  Choose Windows 7.  The Windows 7 driver for HP Deskjet 990c works just fine on the 6122.  I also had to go back to the printer port and make sure it was designated at the open USB port and not LPT1.  I ran the compatibility troubleshooter just to make sure.

P.S. I also had trouble with my Canon Pixma MX860 with the latest update on Windows 10.  I couldn't print double sided automatically I had to go and turn the paper over manually.  That was also fixed with the compatibility mode change.

How long this fix will work is another story. So far I have saved (or perhaps just merely delayed) the cost of buying another printer.

Very useful info. The 990c drivers work very well the only problem I'm having is the one mentioned earlier, the repeat printing of the garbage page. the solution in the printer properties has not worked for me. any advice would be wonderful.

Thanks

990c driver solved the wide print and format and changed the setting for double side to not installed but still getting extra pages printed after print job completed and randomly. Any additional advice?

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve extra pages printing.
