I have seen the messages about downgrading the firmware but I don't want to do this unless I'm desperate.  The case has been "escalated" so I expect a fix for the bug that has been introduced to be delivered promptly by HP because presumably there were essential security updates in the firmware.

Can we have an expected time frame for the fix to be delivered please?

Thanks

You need to downgrade the firmware back to 20200612 (ie 12 June 2020) , which is the last one before HP started blocking non-HP cartridges. The 20211130 (ie 30 November 2021) firmware update pushed to your printer has caused the problem.

Thank you!  Your suggested solution for my problem works.  With my son's help my printer is working again.

I made a report to ACCC

This "feature" renders my printer useless.  HP toners cost more than a new printer, albeit not another HP printer, so I'll have to buy a new printer if this cannot be done.
