Hello h93,

I understand that you are getting a communication error when trying to print to your OfficeJet 4620. We need to go ahead and get your printer connected back to your network. First you will need to restore your network defaults from the front panel of your printer, see below:

Wrench (Setup Menu) > Wireless > Restore network defaults

Once the network defaults have been restored this will allow your Auto Wireless Connect to search for your network. HP Auto Wireless Connect is a technology that allows you to connect your printer to your wireless network automatically without having to connect any cables or enter your wireless network settings such as your network name or password.

  1. Connect the computer to the network that the printer is broadcasting. It is usually HP-setup-(the printer name) and then part of the MAC address. The wireless light will still be flashing on the printer at this point, this is normal since this is not an actual adhoc connection.
  2. Load up the Embedded Web Server (EWS) in the browser on your mobile device or computer. The default IP for autowireless is 192.168.223.1.
  3. Go to the network tab along the top of the EWS.
  4. Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the lefthand side to begin configuring the printer.

I hope this was helpful. please let me know if you require more assitance with the wireless setup.

Thanks,

When I go to setup menu I get same error message: Wireless communication has been disabled.
Any ideas how to enable?
Thanks!

The reset worked so such that I can now set up a wireless connection but now I can't print in colour. The reset somehow disabled the colour printing? Help!

HP Recommended

Uninstalled and reinstalled printer drivers and still no colour 😞
I had colour before I did the reset to get the wireless

It turned out that the cartridges needed a deep deep clean. I probably shouldn't have purchased the floor model. The colour print problem was likely due to inactivity of the cartridges. Because I was getting zero colour I didn't think it was the cartridges. I thought that it was the the print heads or the software. Thank you for all of your help!

Can you send me the fix for this?  I'm getting the same message and can't get the wireless to work.

Thanks.
