I would recommend using the software that I linked you to earlier, if you have the CD-ROM that software is likely outdated and the incorrect version. And, yes, you have to remove the USB cord, that is why I made a specific note about that in my uninstallation instructions.
Load the software back onto the computer and let me know how it goes.
Also, if you think I am doing a good job helping you out, don't forget that you can click the star below my name to provide my posts with kudos. It's the way of saying
Let me know your progress!

OK. It looks like the Driver software has downloaded but not the optional Imaging, printing one. What do I do now? Do I click on the Windows Update icon where it says that "new updates are available"? What do you mean by load the software back onto the computer? I hate that it seems like I'm dumb but I just want to make sure that I'm doing this correctly.

Alright, for this model once the software has been removed, you should be able to plug the USB cord in and allow the PnP drivers to automatically install. If that does not work, then you can try installing them from the CD.
Let me know!

Two of the files failed to install. They are:
PSC 2200 Series
Hewlett-PackardPSC 2200 Series
The other 5 installed fine.
Are you telling me to use my old psc 2200 series CD to install them? Do I have to uninstall what I just did?

No, I would install using the CD, you should have the option to only select the software you install on the same window where you agree to the terms and agreements. Try installing just the two you need and let me know if that works.
If that does not, try doing the uninstallation process again and install just from the CD.

I didn't have the option of only selecting the software I needed when installing from the CD. Remember, this is a very old printer that I've had for at least 10 years. It just went ahead and tried to install everything and I ended up with the same error message I was getting a week ago:
Error 1904.Module
c:\windows\sysWOW64\hpgwiamd.dll failed to
register HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your
support personnel
At this point, I'm tempted to just go out and buy a new printer. Do you think I'll still have similar problems with a new printer?

I do not think you will, this is likely an issue with the age of the drivers and the relatively new nature of your OS. You can try this though :
Also, if you do want a new printer go ahead and uninstall this one before you load that software just to be sure nothing happens.
I hope this helps!
