I have fitted new HP cartridges in my printer but I am getting a problem where the first letter on each line on the extreme left of the page comes out as faded whilst the rest of the page is fine. I have cleaned and calibrated the cartridges but it has not solved the problem.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Photosmart 5510 printer. I understand that you are getting print quality issues and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,
- Check the paper.
- Check the print settings.
- Check ink levels, and then replace any low or empty cartridges.
- Print and evaluate a Print Quality Diagnostic Report.
- Use an automated tool to clean the printhead.
Click here and follow the steps mentioned in the document to perform above troubleshooting steps.
Let me know how it goes,
Cheers.

Hello, @hansi1
I see that you were interacting with @sandytechy20. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂
I understand that the printing is faded in the extreme left of the page, but is it specific to a particular document? Or is it common even while making a copy or a test page?
Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
Thanks, I'll watch for your reply!
Good luck 🙂

Hello, @hansi1
Try to clean the print head as suggested below:
-
Make sure that plain white U.S. letter or A4 size paper is loaded in the tray.
-
From the control panel home screen, touch the Right Arrow (
), and then touch the Setup icon (
).
-
Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer cleans the printhead, and then prints a test page.
-
Review the print quality on the test page.
Repeat the process more than once if that helps. If the copy comes out fine, then try printing from your PC and check.
Let me know if that helps!
Cheers 🙂
