I have the same problems as the one posted here.

However, everytime I try the WIA process, I realise that each of the components in the dependencies tab has already been started and locked - I can't make changes as I try to start abd stop but I can't.

My scanner hasn't worked since the day I bought it and I have installed, updated, re-installed, used the HP scan doctor etc. Please help!

Hello Walvia

To verify what operating system do you have and is your printer the Deskjet 2050 as well? How is your computer connected to the printer? Do you receive any errors or messages when you try to stop the services?

Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

My operating system is windows 7 ultimate and yes, its is also a deskjet 2050 (j510) printer. I connected the printer to my computer via usb.

Each time I try to scan, it just tells me "A problem preventend the document from being scanned. Please try again or for troubleshooting, see help and support or the information that came with the scanner."

Hello walvia

Have you already tried running the HP Print and Scan Doctor? If so what messages or errors did you receive.

If you have not yet I suggest you do as it can some times find and resolve problems.

One of the easiest ways to isolate the problem would be to install the printer on another computer and see if it too has the same problem/error message.

Hi,

Yeas, I have tried scan doctor (I mentioned this in my original post, please read for further understanding of my problem) and it kept getting stuck in the WIA stage.

I don't have another computer to try it on, just the one HP that I regularly use.

Hello walvia

Are you able to scan with Solution Center? Also can you take a screenshot of the services when you try to shut it down. You may also want to try a different USB cable or port as sometimes the WIA communication problem can lie in one of those.

The drivers for Windows 8 64bit were released the same day that the full OS was released.  The link to the drivers and software for that OS are below.  The OS should install the Printer using the InOS drivers.  You may need to replace the USB cable.  Hope this helps.
