As I moved to Windows 7, I had to connect the printer through a USB/LPT connector, and issue the fix in this link http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software-Drivers/Deskjet-710-720-810-820-1000-Series... to get it to work properly. It's printed flawlessly during my use of Windows 7.
Then along came an upgrade to Windows 10... And as of the moment of installation my printer is by no means able to print anymore in any way, shape or form.
Basically the printspooler crashes when I try to print something. Eventlog exhibits the following error (translated to english):
Name of application with error: spoolsv.exe, version: 10.0.10586.0, timestamp: 0x5632d53b
Name of module with error: HPVSCP50.DLL, version: 1.0.0.6, timestamp: 0x4431bcd4
Exceptioncode: 0xc0000005
Verification of this list http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04658195 shows that the printer is supposed to work.
Finding some more people with similar problems and solving the matter using a different PC, I figured Windows 10 might not like the USB/LPT connector I have on there. As such I got a cheap printserver that I hooked up to the printer, and reconfigured Windows to use the printserver port to print. Printserver works flawlessly, but still the HPVSCP50.DLL crashes when printing something (even something basic as a Windows Test Page), shutting down the printspooler in the process.
Tried grabbing the drivers from Windows Update to make sure I had the newest ones, and still no go. HP site is referring to Windows 10 drivers by Microsoft as the ones needed to be used, but that driver crashes. So I suppose there might be a flaw in the Windows 10 Microsoft provided driver.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get Windows 10 to just talk to my old and trusty printer? Seeing I still have toner for the printer, and I know the printer is still 100% operational, I feel it should work, also because it's listed as a working printer for Windows 10.

As an addendum... Had a look for the drivers themselves on the system. Since I did an upgrade, it might still be using the Windows 7 drivers for some inexplicable reason (eventho I did try to overwrite the driver on one of the install runs). Couldn't figure out how to manually remove them, till I found this: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...
Ran the printui /s /t2 command which got me the screen I figured I'd need. Removed the printers, then removed all HP drivers from there. Rebooted the PC, and did it again, cause there was some mention of stuff being in use. After the second run, all HP drivers were gone.
Opened c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 to verify, and no more files present with the HP-prefix. So the system was now void of all HP drivers.
Installed the printer anew, connected to Windows Update for it to find the printerdriver, and let it install that. Still... no go.
When printing the spooler service still crashes:
Name of the application with the error: spoolsv.exe, version: 10.0.10586.0, timestamp 0x5632d53b
Name of module with error: HPVSCP50.DLL, version: 1.0.0.6, timestamp 0x4431bcd4
Exceptioncode: 0xc0000094
Versions are exactly the same, tho the exceptioncode is different. End result is still a non-working printer 😞

Welcome to the HP Community @Neko-,
I came across your posts about the troubles you are having with using your Deskjet 710c on Windows 10 as there seems to be a spooler issue. Taking note of the steps you have already tried, I would like to add my suggestions below. As the printer is not on the list of supported printers for Windows 10, it may not be successful. If the results are not positive and the printer continues to not function with Windows 10, I would then suggest a printer upgrade to a newer model that is supported on the new OS. I will leave HP's contact information below if you wish to contact them to see about a trade in or printer upgrade.
Step one: Clean boot, restart the PC and try the install again.
1. Begin by typing “msconfig” in the Cortana Search Box and then click on MSConfig (Run Command)
Or on your keyboard press the Windows + R key at the same time and type Msconfig in the run window, then click on OK or hit enter.
2. Now choose Selective Start-up
3. Remove the check from Load Startup Items
4. Click on the Services tab
5. Check “Hide all Microsoft Services” and then click on Disable All
6. Click on Apply and then on OK
7. Restart the PC and temporarily disable any firewalls or antivirus programs
8. Follow the steps here to install the printer using a built in driver: Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
9. Enable the start up services and firewall again
Step two: Unregister and re-register the Windows Installer Service:
1. Hold the Windows Key + R to populate the "Run" box, type cmd.exe, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type msiexec /unregister , and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type msiexec /regserver, and then press ENTER.
4. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to close the command prompt.
5. Follow the steps here to install the printer using a built in driver: Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Step three: Run a System File Checker Scan (up to 3 times) to repair corrupt system files:
1. Go to start
2. Type CMD
3. Right click and run as Administrator
4. To verify and repair the OS type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")
You may have to run this up to 3 times to fix all the problems
When you have finished it will say one of three things
Windows did not find any integrity violations (a good thing)
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and repaired them (a good thing)
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some (or all) of them (not a good thing)
Try installing the printer again.
Step four: Enable Built-in Administrator Account in Windows
1. First you’ll need to open a command prompt in administrator mode by right-clicking and choosing “Run as administrator” (or use the Ctrl+Shift+Enter shortcut from the search box).
Note that this works the same in all versions of Windows. Just search for cmd and then right-click on the command prompt icon in the Start menu or Start screen.
2. If you are in Windows 8.x or 10 you can right-click on the Start button and choose to open a command prompt that way.
3. Now type the following command:
net user administrator /active:yes
4. You should see a message that the command completed successfully. Log out, and you’ll now see the Administrator account as a choice.
(Note that this screenshot is from Vista, but this works on Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 10)
You'll note that there's no password for this account, so if you want to leave it enabled you should change the password.
Try installing the printer again.

Thank you for taking the time to post a reply. It's appreciated.
In regards to your unsupported printer statement for Windows 10, I refer you to http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04658195
The recommended driver is the Windows Update Driver.
There areno additional driver options.
And Windows 10 Mobile isn't supported.
So yes, the DeskJet 710C IS a supported printer under Windows 10.
As to step 1: Clean Boot - I upgraded the PC straight from Windows 7, which was printing fine. This precludes any additional program added to Windows 10, since these were also present under Windows 7 and did not hamper the printer in the least.
Step 2: Installer service - The installer service seems to run fine for any other potential install I want to run. It's also used by Windows Update, and that runs without any problems too.
Step 3: SFC for corrupt files - The install was done cleanly, but I'll give it a go. No other parts of Windows give me any problems, just the printer that isn't talked to.
Step 4: My account is part of the Administrator group, and thus has full and unrestricted access to the computer.
Anyways, executed step 1, proceeded with step 2, then ran step 3 three times over the system.
No issues were found by SFC (no integrity violations) for all three runs. I then removed the printer from the system, removed the driver and driver package from the system, after which I rebooted. The system thus came up with a clean boot, a known re-registered MSIEXEC, and a clean SFC bill of health.
Still, to make sure, redid the unregister and re-register of MSIEXEC, and ran the SFC three more times. No errors found on the SFC. No integrity violations at all. Still as clean as can be.
So then we get to reinstalling the printer... I disconnected the bought printserver, and reconnected the USB->LPT cable. I know that one works, since I've had it working flawlessly under Windows 7. Heck, it printed not 12 hrs prior to me installing Windows 10. I have not touched the cable, and just went with the upgrade, so any defects in the cable I rule out aswell.
Switched on the printer, and gotten to Device Manager. Found a USB device called 'no printer attached'. I suppose that one might be the USB->LPT cable. Eventho the printer itself is turned on, it doesn't see the printer. Removed that device from the device list. In the printqueue part, it shows the CutePDF printer and the main printqueue. So that's entirely expected. Then I let it scan for hardware changes. The 'no printer attached' device returned...
Said device does tell me this: Device USBPRINT\UnknownPrinter\7&2a4c19f8&2&USB001 could not be migrated. The driver being used for it is Microsoft, and it's reported as 'working correctly' tho.
Going to Devices and Printers to install the printer again. Let it search for devices. Printer is switched on, and connected to the USB->LPT connector. No devices found. So we opt for the device not listed. My printer is older... help me search... Still found nothing. Then we add the printer manually, using the existing USB001 printerport that we also used under Windows 7. Select Windows Update, to let it search the most recent drivers from Windows Update.
Go to manufacturer HP, select the HP DeskJet 710C. Windows Update lists it, so again, a notice that the printer IS supported under Windows 10. Next, name it, and allow administrative permissions to install the printer. Do not share the printer, and set it as the default. This page also allows for printing a testpage... Opened the services, and verified the printspooler service as running. Hit the testpage button, and got the notice the testpage was sent to the printer.
The printer in the mean time isn't doing anything. Not even indicating that it's receiving any data whatsoever. Printspooler is still running tho... Check the printerqueue. No job present. Open the printer properties, and retry the testpage. And the printspooler stops, testpage is left in the queue. Restarted the printspooler service... which immidiatly stops again. Restart it again, and find that the testprint has vanished from the queue. Printer still having done nothing.

This is repeated a couple of times (I restarted the printspooler twice to get it back to a running state again), and I've not included the files mentioned, since they might be too extensive for this forum.
So it might be the USB cable... Lets take that out of the equation, and switch to the printserver.
Reconnected the printserver, and connected to the IP address I configured for the device.
Once I reconnect the printserver to the printer, and ask it what kind of printer it sees, it tells me faithfully it's an HP Deskjet 710C. So the connector on the printer isn't faulty at all.
So then we change the USB001 interface with a TCPIP interface that points at the printservers IP. I've done this numerous times at work (sysadmin), so no real problem there. Printer properties, ports, we select the IP port. Apply, and retry the print. And again the printspooler stops working. Restarted the service... and it stops again... And after the second restart, the spooler remains in operation, but the testprint has gone from the printqueue.
Your possibility of step 4 isn't really applicable. I am an administrator on the system, and know I have access to everything. I've run all of this under my account which is administrator equivalent, and done so by selecting 'run as administrator' a few times.
I also want to point out these threads:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/Deskjet-710C-not-printing-after-Windows-10-Upgrade/td-p... - 3 people indicating problems with their 710C printers under Windows 10
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/driver-for-deskjet-710c-for-win-10/td-p/5205449 -
Seems the problem also already occurred under Windows 8/8.1:
http://www.eightforums.com/drivers-hardware/45025-windows-8-1-x64-printer-problems.html - Specifically the 64 bit version seems to have issues
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Deskjet-710C-and-Windows-8-64-Bit/td-p/2156247
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Deskjet-710c-and-D1460-dont-print-in-windo...
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/44c08d62-232e-4aa0-8e00-23c7a4a06f42/win-8...
And Windows 10 is pretty much a progression build on Windows 8/8.1 so the problem seems to have been around for way longer.
Also note this other thread I started on the Microsoft site with it's results: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/hp-deskjet-710c-fails-to-work-u...
HP refers to Microsoft for the driver, but it seems the 64-bit Microsoft driver is not up to the task of talking to this HP printer. Microsoft in the mean time seems to pretend nothing is actually wrong, because probably 'the DeskJet 710C is a dinosaur and thus is not used by anyone anymore'. While I agree the Deskjet 710C is a dinosaur of a printer, it's also one of the finest examples of HP products to survive for such a long time, and still function properly.
Going with the above test results, and my findings of my previous posts, aswell as the found posts indicating similar problems, I still stand with my reasoning that the Microsoft provided printerdriver on 64 bit for the HP DeskJet 710C is faulty.
We are Microsoft... And we opted in with HP, to make sure you buy new hardware, eventho the old hardware is listed as 'should be working'.
You get the OS for free, but can fork over cash to get your functionality from Windows 7 back.
While it WOULD work around the issue (since it does not solve the issue) the fact that I have a perfectly good printer, with still a load of full cartridges for it, would mean I'd have to toss more than just the worth of the printer.
Considering that the printer IS on the list as a device that works under Windows 10, I feel this should be resolvable, by either HP or Microsoft by releasing a new/working driver.
As stated, I've excluded the USB->LPT converter cable by adding a printserver, but this STILL crashes the printspooler under Windows 10, which points at a driver problem IMO.

Someone suggested installing VirtualBox from Oracle (already have that installed), and creating a Windows 7 PC on there. Then drag over the stuff he wanted to print to that machine, and print from there, which he claimed worked. See the post made on the 13th of January 2016 on this thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Deskjet-710-720-810-820-1000-Series-printe...
While a work-around (a LONG workaround with a lot of convoluted steps), this kind of defeats the purpose of having Windows 10 on the computer.
Nobody have any idea about potential work being done on the driver to get this to work? HP? Microsoft? Anyone?

I'd like to see it working I don't remember if I have a 710 but I have a 722 and 895 in my collection.
I'm going to move your post off of the LaserJet board and to the Drivers board, hopefully you will get better results there.
