HP Envy 100 D410 series - printer in our office

running Mac OS X 10.8 (re-installed current drivers today)

The touchscreen only displays the top half (see below) ... so can't get access to the scan and copy functions.

Prints fine.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to scan/copy from laptop controls?

Can't identify any particular event (e.g., power outage) thay may have caused this. Just started happening TODAY! 😕

Thank you for the picture to be able to understand the issue at its best.  From the image it looks like the printer is having a problem with the connection for the display.  Have you tried raising and lower the display to its full extents?  Does the display image change if you do this?

As well, try power draining the printer.

  • Unplug the printer while on
  • Unplug the other end of the power cord from the direct wall outlet
  • Wait 30-60 seconds
  • Plug the unit back into the power source

Take a look through the information in the document linked below.  The document doesn't cover this exact issue, but has the same steps for troubleshooting this error.

The initial steps you suggested made no difference.

I will try the steps listed in the linked article tomorrow and let you know the results.

I am not finding any warranty info for the printer either.

My HP Envy 100, which is about 1.5 years old has the same problem except it's the entire screen. Of course, the printer is out of warranty. You would think an expensive specialty printer like the Envy would be better built. I think I shall replace it with a Brother or a Canon as I'm tired of buying expensive printers that take expensive ink, and don't even last more than a bit over a year. Also, I tried all the quick repair steps, and even sprinkled Holy Water and chicken blood on it (covered most the important beliefs) but still no joy.

None of the suggested procedures made any difference. A week or so later after forcing a scan from the dialog window on the laptop, the display "magically" improved (i.e., it is displaying about 75% now). The unit is out of warrantly. Will just live with it as is and ultimately replace it.

I have to agree with this person.  It's a shame that a printer would go out so early in its life.  It's frustrating that the product is not as reliable as we would like.  It says a lot about a company when the warranty is only a year.  Either they don't have a lot of confidence in the product or they are so greedy that they are trying to see the extended warranties.  Neither are good solutions for the consumer.

I have the same problem as stated above. Half the screen is good the lower half is crap
And I see here there isn't a fix...lovely
Nothing like a 200 dollar paperweight
Hp makes a pretty good looking printer...too bad it's junk.

I have the same problem, except the entire screen is corrupted.  As others, there was no specific event that led to this, it just stoppped displaying normally one day.  I'm hoping it's a damaged cable or loose connector.  has anyone disassembled the front of the printer to look at this?  Does anyone know where I can find diagrams or photos showing the cables and/or connectors involved?

We've not gotten any viable answers or suggestions.  I think we may all be SOL.

None of the companies seem to stand behind their products for much more than a year unless, of course, one happens to purchase the extended warranty.   I don't generally purchase the extended warranties largely because they make me made because companies look to these as profit generating items and therefore provide limited support for their products.

But, they all do it, no matter if it's HP, Epson or even Fridgedair (refrigerator).
