I just did the 'factory reset' as described in an earlier msg, and **bleep** if the printer/airprint didn't start working when I started it back up. Have no idea what the hell is going on. It obviously didn't reset it to factory, because I can now login to it using the fixed IP I had assigned it. Who knows... But thanks for the input.

This is really frustrating as I use mine to print invoices and it seems to lose wireless if it runs out of paper, if I replace the toner, or it is powered off.
What an absolute joke this printer is.
It seems loads of people have this problem, and I must have restored and reinsatlled 5 times in the last year, and I am at the end of my tether with it now.
Might have to opt for a new printer and it will NOT be an HP one. I've never had so many problems with a printer.

I got the exact same issue. Once I power down and power back, printhost lost connection with network.
I seach through all web. Cannot get the anwser yet. I will return this print. I monito arp, ping and wireshark. It confirmed the printer has design flaw. If you have ping back, it will works. So far only reliable way to bring it back is remove and reinstall. Or using the USB, which will shown as <printername copy1>.
On top of that HP fear to listen to his customer. I cannot locate the service support by interactive way to solve this problem.
So either live with or get rid of it.

Same problem here! I bought a LaserJet P1102w for the wireless capabilities. Now i've updated with the last 20120814 firmware and 20120926 driver. Surprise: the printer losts his connection when I turn it off. With original firmware no problems at all...
Must I set no protection on my router now only to have my printer working? It's ridiculous! I use WEP protection with 64 bit key and Open authentication for compatibility reasons and wifi range extension, but WPA is not working also.
Where is the good old firmware??? I need a downgrade! I'm NOT interested in ePrint function.

P.S. I cannot use the web interface of the printer when I switch the peripheral off and on, and it refused to print and it is not recognized on the LAN (it has a fixed IP). The only solution is reconfigure it every time with a notebook connected with USB.
(XP Pro SP3 fully updated, Netgear DG834G v3 with last european firmware)

UPDATE: i've set for the printer a new IP address (192.168.0.70) outside the DHCP range of the router (up to 192.168.0.69). For the first minutes the printer did not respond to pings and the web interface is unaccessible. After some minutes the printer reconnects to the network and all is working.
Some other infos: WEP 64 bit Open, WAN MTU = 1492, LAN MTU = 1500, DNS1 = 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS), DNS2 = 192.168.0.1 (the router, of course)
With the original firmware the uptime was 1 minute or less. Now is 5 minutes or more... TOOO SLOOOOOW!
Please, HP, fix these problems.
P.S. In web panel i have activated the web services (ePrint). I don'know if this helps... (and sorry for my bad english, i'm italian)

It seems that many have addressed the same issue, but HP has not provide an answer and has not provide a fix on the firmware problem. My wireless printer, P1102w, was working beautifully until I accidently updated the firmware to 20120130. Since then, I could no print wirelessly. Currently, my printer is on firmware 20120814 - STILL CAN NOT PRINT WIRELESSLY.
One easy solution is to have HP upgrade/update the firmware one of the of P1102w printer and see for themselves what the problem is - that is, the printer keeps loosing its IP and DHCP information and can not reconnect to the router. I even set up my printer to "Manual IP", but the printer still loses the DHCP information and can not obtain the router's address after the printer is shut off and turned back on.
PLEASE PROVIDE A GOOD FIRMWARE UPDATE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR PROVIDE THE OLDER VERSION SO WE CAN ALL PRINT WIRELESSLY. - ONE FRUSTRATING HP CONSUMER.

I agree, something has changed. I've had this printer working fine for about a year now, and all of a sudden in the past month or so, the print driver suddenly says it can't print because the printer is offline. It won't wake from auto-sleep. I have to manually turn the printer on. And just now, I cued something to print about five minutes ago, it said it was offline, and I started to surf around these posts and voila' it suddenly just came out of the printer. No rhyme or reason. I have LOVED this printer since i purchased and have recommended it all the time. But, now I'm not sure what's going on.
