Absent a software update that solves the hang up or you can get the Ethernet to work, you may be out of luck. Your Ethernet could have been fried by lightening. Evidently, it doesn't take much to burn Ethernet & HDMI ports.

I got it!

I installed it using the ethernet cable in order to copy the IP address (as someone had  mentioned before). After that, I right-clicked on printer properties and then, on the ports tab, I clicked on "Add Port". Next, I clicked on "Standard TCP/IP Port" and a Wizard opened. All I did was type the IP address I had copied and clicked next until the installation was done. You will be immediately able to print documents, but the scanner won't work.

Finally, uninstall the printer as usual and then try installing again. It really did the trick, I was able to complete the installation and life has been great ever since.
