HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw

Just bought this print. First time installation, I got the Scanner Error 22 message.

I did the power reset and removed and replaced the power cord with no effects and didnt clear the problem and installing the new firmware is impossible untill the error 22 is cleared.

I've beed reading multiple posts on this problem (seems like a popular one). So please, don't ask me if I connected it directly to the outlet or don't ask me to reset the factory seeting...I did it all.

What's next ?

Hi @Bunks,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you're unable to scan with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw Printer. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I understand how frustrating this would be for you. It seems like you have done most of the troubleshooting already.

Is this the guide that you followed?

NOTE: A 'Scanner Error 22' message displays on the control panel when you try to scan from the printer. This error might display when extra weight or pressure is applied to the scanner glass, such as when scanning an open book. The weight or pressure can stall the scanner mechanism.

Are you able to perform a copy?

What operating system are you using?

There could be a mechanical failure with the scanner mechanism.

If you completed all the preceding steps and your product still has an issue, service the product. If the printer is within the buyers remorse period, return the printer to the point of purchase or contact HP.

Contacting HP for service in all countries/regions except Asia Pacific.
First, go to Check your product warranty to check your printer warranty status, and then go to Contact HP Support to find an authorized service dealer or to schedule a repair.
Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty printers.
What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! Smiley Happy

Thank you for your reply,

Yes, this is the procedure I followed.

No it can't even perform a copy.

Before I bring it back to HP, is there a possibility that the reason it is not working is because it's lock ? (sometime they do this when a peripheral is being shipped). I see a little locker icon behind. How do I know if it's locked or not ?

Hi @Bunks,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not aware of any "lock" on the scanner or printer, which would prevent you from using it. Please take it back to the store for a replacement.

Please respond to this post with the results.  Good Luck! 🙂
