Hi gwinkworth,
In order to have them all scanned to one file you will need to place the documents in the ADF - Automatic Document Feeder. If you scan from the glass it will ask if you have another page to scan, and then create a new document seperate from the first one. Let me know if you scan using the ADF fixes your issue?

I'm scanning a book, cannot use the ADF. It seems counter-intuitive to have an add page function that really does not allow you to add a page. I've had HP scanners before this (last one was a 4890) and never had this cumbersome problem. Very disappointing. Unfortunately the 4890 no longer seems to be supported for Windows 7 & 8.

I keep trying to scan multiple pages from the ADF on my 8600. Sometimes it scans 2 pages, sometimes 4, sometimes more before I get an error message. As a Realtor, I can't afford the time this printer costs me trying to scan the documents. In the past I have scanned up to 15 pages at a time. PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks, but that is not the problem. I am trying to scan multiple pages and it will only do 1-3 pages, then I get an error message even though the rest of the documents are still moving through the scanner. I have in the past been able to scan 15 or more pages at once and save then to PDF. Thanks again.

Hi mettler7,
What is the error message you are getting?
HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many hardware problems: The HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility. These hardware problems can prevent printing, scanning, or copying. HP recommends that you download and install the Hardware Diagnostic Utility any time you need to troubleshoot a hardware problem.
Let me know what errors you receive?

I too am a REALTOR that needs my Officejet Pro 8600 to scan properly! I scan (approx) 10 pages and save file... e-mail and then it comes back to me as "too large". It is NOT the recipient's e-mail that won't accept it!!!! So, now I can only scan & send 4 pages at a time! By the way, it was woriking with many (over 20) pages for a while. What's the sudden change? Anyone, PLEASE HELP!

I used to be able to scan multiple pages on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 into one file by doing so as a PDF. I had another problem and called the help center they had me download the driver and now the PDF mode is putting every page into a separate file. I don't know why and it's driving me crazy. Can you help.

Hey kimtuck,
I see you are having an issue of your Officejet Pro 8600 scanning all images into separate files instead of into a single file. Try opening the HP Scan software for the printer or open the HP Printer Assistant software and click on Scan a Document/Photo, then follow the steps below.
- Click on the Advanced button at the bottom right of the scan menu presented
- See if the Checkbox is checked for scanning each image into a separate file. If so, uncheck this box to fix your issue.
Hope this helps,
Jason
