@rahrahhp - please tell me you got the help you needed. If not, I may just be a volunteer but I have some tricks up my sleeve.

Have you been properly taken care of at least? If the issue isn't resolved, let's see what we can do together.

I requested problem be escalated to HP ... received email from an HP rep and responded to his questions. I'still obvious to me that that the problem is with the printer software handling PDF documents. Everyone having problems uses different op/sys software and different computer/laptops/routers etc. The variable that's the same is the PRINTER. That's what needs to be fixed! The only company that can fix it is HP and I'm not hopeful ... may be time to return it and get a Canon!
Thanks for the offer to help ...

I was a certified technician for Sharp and Ricoh printers and they also had the same problem sometimes and I don't really know about any other smaller models but I know it's caused by how all the elements combined (computer, software, the way it's connected, etc) processes the information. Although a PDF is technically a compressed file, it seemed I would have to hold my nose just right to get it to work, because it's hard to know what you've unsuccessfully tried to know where the problem could lie.

I'm not gonna read previous posts because based on what you've said you've tried everything but for troubleshooting purposes have you tried just saving it in another format? It's likely you can't do that everytime but it will get the immediate job done.

How is it connected? 90% of the time with my other models it was the cord connecting the printer but based on this model you probably have it set up wirelessly.

Is your PDF program the most up-to-date version? I know Adobe reader is at version 15 now. Just as one last attempt try Adobe Reader 15 (it's free) and let me know if that helps (if you care to try any more). I know how frustrating it can be but it's cheaper than buying another printer but then again if the store you take it to or HP will replace it with another model for free then you can try that too.

Let me know if you wanna try anything new and good luck!

I haven't seen Adobe Reader 15, you must be from the future!  :Surprise:

The version available from get.adobe.com\reader (as of this posting) is:  Version XI (11.0.10)

Is it printing slow in general or is it only with .pdf documents?

I was taking a look at its predecessor's (officejet 8600) print speed specifications and it's suppose to be a little faster than that.

What operating system is the computer you're printing from (Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OS 8, etc)?

I don't think anyone's posted a resolve but I'm happy to help!

Has anyone found a resolution?  I just bought an 8610, and I'm seeing the same problem.  Have the rest of you returned your printers?

Are you all using wireless? I have to wonder if it's a router setting of some sort. Maybe your encryption type. Best kind to use is WPA2 for printers
