the problem with the hp d110 is that HP can not or will not update the drivers...I have done all the uninstall and reinstall from their web site and it will not scan. YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS HP. If i remember right there hasn't been a driver update since 2009...I HOPE YOU DON'T TAKE A MONTH TO REPLY AGAIN.
I TELL EVERYONE THAT ASKS ME, DO NOT BUY HP PRINTERS...HP HAS GROWN AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THE BOTTOM DOLLAR....IF THERE PRODUCTS DON'T WORK RIGHT, PEOPLE WILL BUT ANOTHER THINKING IT IS OUTDATE....FIX THE **bleep** DRIVERS.......

I simply took the time to register to share my frustrations with the photosmart D110. In my life i have never tried anything so useless...
It works one day, not the next. It prints, but doesn`t scan. Then it doesn`t print..
I have reinstalled, used the HPdr - you name... spend hours and hours restaarting computer, reinstalling printer - tried it all. Get it to work, only to find the day after it doesn`t work again...
Never again shall i waste my hard-earned money on HP... never...

Hello, I'd appreciate help with scanning on my Photosmart D110a. When I run diagnostics it comes up with "extended error information 4,(3,42,0). I have downloaded new software, I even uninstalled and installed again, but it still does not scan. I can print. I use Windows 7.
Thanks for any help.

Hi VB01,
I understand that you're having some issues scanning with your Photosmart D110A. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this but I will certainly do my best to help!
I have a few questions so that I can help you better.
How is the printer connected to your Windows 7 computer? (Wireless or USB?)
Are you able to make a copy on the printer? (If you are unsure how to copy click here and proceed to Step three: Try a blank copy - and yours should not be blank, try something very clear)
Once I have this information I should be able to help better!

Hi VB01,
Thanks for the quick reply! That's great, it means the scanner itself is working. So the next step is to look at the software.
I know you said you had run some diagnostics, was one of those the HP Print and Scan Doctor? If you have not run this utility I'd like you to click here to download and run it to help solve your issue.
Let me know what it indicates the issue is or if everything checks out okay.

I did run it, several times. I'll run it again now and tell you what the issue says. At one point it told me it could not find the WSD driver (or something like that). I had just downloaded Windows updates, so I restored my computer to a previous date but it still did not fix. I backed it up to still earlier, but still no solution. Now I'm not sure where I stand at all!!
I'll run it again now and let you know.
Thanks for your help.

It told me to download HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers again, which I have just done. Now it tells me to install it -- once again. I have already like 3 times! I'll let it install while you answer. thanks.

HI VB01,
It definitely sounds as if files are missing, that's why it's saying the software is missing. I would recommend to uninstall the software before trying to reinstall it again.
To uninstall your software click here and follow the instructions under Windows 7 (and just ignore the part about disconnecting your USB cable as you don't have one). If you select the file that says HP Photosmart D110 All-in-One Software (under Programs and Features) it should remove the remainder of the printer software with it.
This should get you in the right direction to do a successful install!
