HP Printer Assistant
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello HP Forums,

Does HP Printer Assistant allow "send to printer (subsystem - vs. the scanner's printer)" as a Scan Destination option?  If no, is as a HP Printer Assistant loss in functionality vs its predecessor HP Solution Center?

Use case:  Scan a document and print with a different printer (other than the HP Officejet Pro 6968 being used to scan).  One specific need:  send scan to a .pdf print driver that allows appending to an existing .pdf document.  This is only one need, the ability to send a scan to any printer recognized by my OS affords many options.

HP Solution Center (predecessor to HP Printer Assistant) scan settings Scan To allows selecting Printer.  After the scan, and selecting the scan viewer's "Finish" button, the Windows "Printer Setup" dialog appeared and one can select any Windows printer.

Is the same possible with HP Printer Assistant?

HP Printer Assistant Destination File Type:

  • PDF
  • JPEG
  • PNG
  • BMP
  • TIF
  • Text (.txt)
  • Rich Text (.rtf)
  • Searchable PDF (.pdf)

HP Printer Assistant Destination Send To:

  • Local or Network folder
  • Email
  • Dropbox
  • GoogleDrive

Is there a way to add "Printer" (or for techie folk "System Printer")?

Current System Info:

  • HP Printer Assistant, file version: 36.2.1964.60632 (per properties -> detail tab of HP OfficeJet Pro 6960.exe - couldn't find [menu] -> Help -> About ... ???)
  • Windows 10
  • HP Officejet Pro 6968 (shouldn't make a different - this is really about HP Printer Assistant)

Prior System Info:

  • HP Solution Center, file version: 130.0.44.62 (per properties -> detail tab of hpqdirec.exe - no Help -> About)
  • Windows 7
  • HP Photosmart C7250

Thanks,

Tim

Hi@TimWC,

Thanks for stopping by HP Support Forums.

I came across your post and would like to help.

You need information about HP Printer assistant. Is that, correct?

The HP Printer assistant is more advanced and updated version of HP Solution Center.

As and when the Windows got updated, HP has developed the updated Printer control software for the ease of use of the printer.

Hope the solution answers your query. Feel free to reply back for more.

HI @TimWC

The new "HP Solution Center" is the "HP Printer Assistant".  HP Solution Center is not supported on  OfficeJet Pro 6968 on Win 10 (64 bit)

If you need to scan and save as individual PDF files, please check out this example on how to do that:

Hope that helps and have a Blessed Christmas!

Hi @Resolve_S

My question:

Does HP Printer Assistant allow "send to printer (subsystem - vs. the scanner's printer)" as a Scan Destination option?

I didn't see your answer to that question.  Sorry, your reply did not help.

Hi @greenturtle,

Saving scans to individual documents doesn't address this need.  The ability to "append" or "send to printer" is the solution being sought.  See Use case: in OP.

HP Solution Center didn't allow "append to existing" .pdf either, but it did allow "Send to Printer", so a print driver could be installed that would take the scan and append all pages to an existing .pdf.

I understand HP Printer Assistant is the upgraded/newer software, but I think some functionality was left behind.  Does HP Printer Assistant have a "future roadmap"?  Is "Send to Printer" on that roadmap or is there a way to request the feature?

Thanks,

Tim

Hi,

Unfortunately, we do not have visibility to the roadmap.

Thanks.
