Interesting this problem /64bit Windows 7 is still happening.  I had to reload the HP software for some reason, the scans quit working, but I immediately get the same error message at the end of the scanning process.

it is amazing not to hear anything from HP.  Great company... maybe they are killing the product and not interested in bug fixes.

I'm having what sounds like a similar problem on my C6380.  It worked fine on my old XP machine, but I bought a new Dell with Windows 7 Ultimate and now I can't get the HP to scan.  I'm using the HP Solution Center and the scan either hangs up or I get an error message.  I tried the HP scanner diagnostic utility but if I run it after I try a scan, it says the scanner is in use and the diagnostic won't run.  So I reboot and run the diagnostic and it says there's no problem.  Then when I try to scan something, it won't work.  I have reverted to using an old Epson All In One when I need to do scanning.  It works fine, although it's inconvenient to have to hook up 2 printers.  Help.

I've been experiencing the exact same problems as y'all so tried a new tactic.

I used their on-line chat. They fixed the problem - with a workaround...

Here ya go:

Find this file on your PC - Hpiscnapp

Make a shortcut on your desktop

When you want to scan, use this rather than the HP Solution centre. THis is the scan application itself without the HPSC front door.

When you hit Finish, it gives you the usual options - TIF, PDF, file location...WIth HPSC, you do all that selection up front.

I'm now happily scanning.

Now if my Canucks wouldn't have bombed in the NHL playoffs my week would be completely happy.

Very same problem...

And the workaround (use of Hpiscnapp.exe) is useless for me. Indeed, I am using the "Scan to" feature available on the printer to scan files and send the output to a computer.

I just get an answer from the HP help-desk about this issue ("HP Scan Application Resources has stopped working" on my brand new Win7/x64) : "my printer is out of warranty"

Great! So, the period of warranty is also valid for the piece of software delivered with the hardware. Funny.

Ok then... I think I will never buy HP stuff anymore. I can't trust them to fully support future versions of Windows.

It's quite obvious when I see how many people have posted here, since months, without getting a real solution.

I have complained about this problem for over a year. I've had two HP computers with Windows 7 64-bit and neither worked properly when connected to my C6280 using the networked option. USB works fine but that's another cable I didn't want just for this one computer and defeats the purpose of buying a WIFI printer. The first worked fine under Vista but crashed when upgraded to Windows 7 either as an upgrade or clean install. The replacement PC came with 7 pre-installed and never worked with 7 while networked. I admitted defeat and ran a cable for this one PC and resolved to never buy HP again. Canon is too comparable with a nice software package to pass up next time. ALL other computers on my home network fully work with all operating systems, EXCEPT my HP PC with Windows 7 64-bit. This includes some home built PC's, ACER, Gateway, Averatec, and an older Compaq. It's always the consumer's fault and setup so HP doesn't admit the need for a patch or the product is close enough to obsolete that they don't fully support it any more.

My question to users in this thread is whether you are networked or USB? Also, what PC brand please? Like I said, USB works like it should but networked stops after each scan only on my HP. It's obviously a driver issue.

I was contacted by HP support... they had me "test" a DLL and it resolved my problem.  I hope they push it out.

Using a shortcut for HPISCNAPP.exe on the desktop worked for me.  Also using a wireless connection seemed to work better.  Both of these are counter intuitive.  HPISCNAPP.exe was the program "hanging" when scanned from the HP Solution Center (HSC).  Without the HSC, it works fine.  You'd think a "wired" connection would work better, but not in my case.  I just scanned 8 pages fed from the top feeder tray with no problems using this technique.  The Canucks aren't so bad after all.  🙂

I can see many are having the same issues as me and it is a very recent issue with Win 7.  I was on HP chat for 2 days.  Their final suggestion was to buy a new HP printer. Ha!   Like that would work.  Support was nice but they need to get on the ball and read these forums to see current trends and issues, not try to upsale.  I should know, I worked for HP for several years.

I am using an HP 3200 AIO Photosmart.  3 1/2 years old and still prints beautifully.  I like the 6-color, 02 Ink Cartridge system so much I bought an HP 8180 and have it stored so when my 3200 finally does die I have the same print system.  It was their most advance mechanical design.  But that is why they discontinued it - too expensive to manufacture.

Anyway, tried the above mentioned work-around of by passing HP Solution Center since I upgraded to Win 7.  That did work for me.  Depends on which .exe you use.  The one suggested above opens a scan photo option.  SO I tried a few others and got the scan document option which is what I need.

Here's something... may work different for you.  I opened the HP Solution Center by clicking on Hpqdirec.exe.  When I press scan document it opens the scanning window correctly (this is where is would normally crash), so maybe it loaded some service correctly.  No I can open HP Solution Center using the normal desktop icon (shortcut) and it opens and scans correctly.  So I don't know what happen.  So try than.  Also if I "uncheck" the scan preview box in settings that would allow me to scan that way so you could try that.

I still though, have my original issue before all this happened.  If I scan a document it always scans at 8 1/2" x 12" not 8 1/2 x 11" and the change scan size is grayed out in the selections.  It is available if I scan a photo so I think that is another bug.  So I have to manually resize every document I scan!  No a good thing.  Anybody have any tips on this?

Since the scanning and scanning preview seemed to work ok now, I thought I would try a third party software like Paperport to see if I can set up 8 1/2 x 11 as a default.  Since everyuone else took the time to post here I wanted to contribute.  A least I can now start scanning all my receipts business expenses reports again!  We all want to get paid!
