AFter the update to Maverick I found I could scan and see the pic or document but once I saved it, I was saving a black screen. I have been checking back with HP for updates periodically in the hope that I do not have to purchase a new printer (I have a C4780). Today I tried once again for an update and now the problem is worse. When I go to save, I receive a message that it cannot save the document, but it also keeps trying and I cannot cancel the save. Still waiting for an HP solution. When is it going to happen?

you can avoid this problem not using HP wizard but internal Apple Scanner option. Open System Preferences find Printers, click on it and you'll find Printer-scanner buttons. Click on Scanner and follow the wizard requests. Before scanning, remember to give a name to the document and to choose the format (dpi number, type of file you need ( jpg,pdf......).You'll find the file scanned correctly in the Documents folder. We all have the same probleme still unsolved and thiis is one possibility to forget it, in the mean time, hoping somebody in HP fix it .

Hi Danilo2159,
When you do try and print, are you getting any error messages? Is the document going into the print queue? Could you please provide me with further details.
Thank you. 🙂

There is no sense printing, when you can see by opening the PDF of the saved document, that it is
jibberish. Try this yourself. Use an HP scanner like my C5180, and try to save the document. In any format
it appears as jibberish, if you are using Maverick OS from Apple. My old snow leopard worked perfectly with
the scanner. Try it yourself. Easy. Thanks.

I don't have a usb port on my printer, but do have memory card slots. I used the memory card from my camera and scanned to memory card. It automatically put the scans into iphoto and I was able to access from there.

I deleted old messages, but, basically I said that you HP guys should hook up one of your scanners to a Mac with Mavericks on it, and try to save or print the scan, in any format and you will see that it is all jibberish.
Thanks, Larry
