How do I get my Officejet 4500 to work wirelessly

Well, assuming you have a network already established, there are two ways.

1) Use the wireless setup wizard in the front panel of the printer to connect the printer to your network and then install the software for a wireless connection.

2) Install the printer via USB and then go back into the software package, there will be an option to convert the usb to wireless. The USB cable is used to send the network information and then you can disconnect the cable.

Let me know how this goes for you!

This is just way to difficult I spent 7 hours getting this hooked up by USB cable. Finding drivers for windows 8.1 and apperanly needing some kind of APP. I have now spent 2 hours trying to set up wireless. the instructions I get say press setup button and its not there. I am told to go into software and change from USB to wireless I cannot find. I give up! I am just not smart enough to own this printer!!!!

Please help.  I have same issue and spent 8 hours trying to get my 4500 back online and working wirelessly.  It works usb, but not wirelessly, and it did work wirelessly previously.

I DO NOT HAVE THE INSTALLATION DISC.   Therefore, according to the setup manual, I have to know how to get the transfer from usb to wireless without this DISC.  Do you have a dowlnoad for the disc somewhere on HP?

Please help.

I have windows 7.  64 bit.  Use Firefox.  Router and wireless work fine.  Light is on the 4500 showing wireless connection. USB prints fine.

Need help NOW!

Thanks.

Hello 3nascarfan,

I have done some research for us and I have some troubleshooting steps for you try.

The Setup menu is located on the top right corner on the printers display panel.  Press the Setup menu and use the right arrow key to get to the Network Menu.  Once in the Network Menu, scroll down to Restore Network Defaults and select YES.

HP does not have specific drivers for this printer for the Windows 8.1 operating system so you will have to try a generic driver within the operating system.

Hi too-difficult,

You can use the same steps to Restore the Network defaults on the printer. The software and driver bundle is available for Windows 7.  Please click on the following link for the HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver.

Thanks for your time.
