I went to color preferences and it was already all the way to the right darkest setting.

What else can I do to see this display screen?

It is almost impossible to see and extremely frustrating.

Hello Wayne, gmpetri and tedward,

I am sorry to hear that your display screens are almost white and black on your Officejet Pro 8600.

I would like to help you all with the display issue. I have looked into this for you all and have located a document for you to follow for troubleshooting.

Also, I recommend for all of you to check for a firmware update for your printer.

Hello ronchail,

I am sorry to see your touchscreen has gone black. I would also recommend for you to follow the troubleshooting documents I have posted above your message.

If you have completed all of the steps and the issue still persists, I would then recommend calling HP's Technical Support to see if there are any other options for you.

I too have this issue with an 8600 Pro.  Just after the 1 year warrenty expired.  In essence the LCD panel is a whitewash but functional, you just cant see anything on the screen, if you look at it from a high angle looking down, you can just barely make it out.  What I have found is that I leave it unplugged overnight and it then the screen works as normal for a day or so.

Very frustrated, when I called support they tried to sell me a new re-manufactured model.  Based upon the number of hits this thread is getting you would think there would be a fix, or a supported way to get this resolved.

I too have an HP 8600 printer.  The printer is in great condition, however I can't read a thing on the touchscreen.  It worked fine for a while and now it's all whited out...  like a bad snow storm .

Help!  If I can't see the touch screen the printer is useless.

I've completely unplugged the unit and plugged it back in .. didn't solve the issue.

Help!

Hi LizBirch

I understand you are unable to read the screen on the Officejet 8600.

Check the viewing angle of the display and adjust it properly. Make sure there is no damage on the power cord and that it is connected directly to a wall outlet. Make sure the printer isn't exposed to an electric or magnetic field.

Did you follow the steps from message 23 for the Product Display is Blank or Black? http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01817193

If these steps don't resolve the issue I would recommend to call HP Tech Support for
further assistance to see what other options are available for you.
