HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One Printer . Scanner . Copier

Windows 7 64 bit

My Computer is a Gateway Intel Core 2 quat

640 GB 4GB DDR3

I can turn off the printer and turn it on a few times and then it will start working. Very annoying.

Dear Shane,  I can't believe it!  It works.  Thank you so much.  It was so easy to follow your instructions.  I am not computer, printer literate.  I love this forum.  Again, Thanks.

The solution provided is way too generic and completley useless. The reset by removing all printer cartriges is laughable and is not working for 5180. Isn't there a simpler solution by simultaneusly pressing two buttons before powering up?

Also, what is the exact reason for this error? If an automobile computer sets a DTC, anyone can look up exact condition, for example out of range sensor data. Until condition is satisfied by a repair no reset will help.
