I have a new computer with Windows 10, 64 bit. Copying is fine, but scanning isn't working. I downloaded and installed all the Windows 10 drivers linked in a previous post, HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver. Instructions show that I should be able to click on the device in Settings| Printers and Scanners, and a Scan Assistant will show up. That's not happening.
I also have two listings for the Laserjet printer: NPI5C85C3 (HP LaserJet1217nfw MFP) and HP LaserJet 1217nfw MFP. I installed the drivers to HP Laser Jet 1217nfw MFP. There was a third listed for my old 2010 laptop, which I removed.
On the 2010 Windows 7 computer, I was using the following instructions to scan:
I opened the application called hppscan0.exe, located at C:\Program Files\HP\HP LaserJet M1210 MFP Series\Scan To\hppscan0.exe
I've searched Printers and Scanners in Windows 10 for the word "scan", and nothing shows up on my computer, only web searches.
In addition, I have not installed the Readiris Pro 12 for HP from the disk I received with the printer. I don't know if I should.
Help, please! Thank you.

Tardis, thank you for your help. I'm using the printer wirelessly. Unfortunately, I spent hours downloading and checking, and nothing worked until I got to the "Install HP scan and capture app" step 7. That works. The HP doctor app said everything was fine, but didn't install to my desktop. HP assistant wasn't helpful. Even after all that, I appreciate your help. I'd recommend the app first, especially to people who are new to Windows 10. I used Windows 7 for years, but my new computer came with 10 and it's a steep learning curve. -PamW
