No, this only works for a short period of time (hours, not days).
Since you are an HP employee, can you please confirm, one way or the other, whether there is a open (unresolved) bug for this issue in HP's internal bug tracking system. If the bug is resolved, then which printers / printer drivers / solution center versions the bug is resolved in.
Thank you

Hi PhilipGl,
What printer do you have?
How do you have it connected?
Do you turn off the printer or leave it on?

This does not fix the problem (Refer to Message 71 of 121....). In my case, I can initiate a scan from the PC successfully, but not from the printer. After removing all the shortcuts from the right side and "Update the Device", the printer still has all the same items in the "Front Panel List (Scan to Button)", so it appears the update is not getting through to the printer. So how do I get the "Solution Center" to update the printer? I am suspecting a hardware problem since the printer has to be rebooted (unplugged) every few days so it appears on the network for normal printing. But the LCD list problem does not go away with any of the suggested fixes. Since the printer is 11 months old, the next step is return it on warranty...

Printer is an OfficeJet 4500n-z wireless Ser # {Removed for privacy}. Opertaing systems are Windows 7 and Windows XP (multiple computers using printer/scanner). I reinstalled the W7 software and unplugged the printer for 1 minute and it worked. I don't have much faith that it will continue working though! The printer keeps dropping out of sight for regular wireless printing and has to be unplugged and replugged to get going again. This happens every 1 - 3 days. I will get back to you the scanning fails again.
Thanks!

@pcwizard- I did what message 71 of this thread says to do, & I am still getting this error. It is absolutely disgusting that, in the whole time this thread has existed, that is the best you can come up with, even after months of people posting back here & telling you it didn't permanently fix the problem.
HP... you need to pull yourselves together or you're going to get left in the dust. You have, without a doubt, some of the worst customer service I've EVER seen in my 10 years of doing tech support.

What printer do you have?
What is the error message you are getting?
Are you successfully able to scan from the HP Solution Center software?
