we have exactly the same issue with all our M401 devices (more than 100). Itmust be a Firmware problem.

i already contacted the HP Support but its not that easy to get a new developed firmware without that bug.

I discovered when we try to ping the device that just 6 packages are received and the 7th package is

The same problem with HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3515. Printer goes to sleep mode after 5 min and doesn't respond at any doing, including pressing power button. It wakes up after unplugging and restoring power cord. I have read some forums there is no any ideas and solutions

On the 401N that I'm working on today :  firmware 20131109--  printer build date May 2014...

Under energy settings I have a feature called 'shut down after'...I set it for 'Never'...that should negate all these other settings..

Or am I missing something in this issue  ??

Hi There,

Just created an account to tell you i fixed the issues on my LJ Pro 200 with a static IP. I went to network settings and switched from DHCP to Static (with a valid IP in my lan ofcourse).

Hope this works out for you as well.

Robbert.

New firmware out 20150212(25 Feb 2015). We applied on multiple printers and haven't had the issue since.

Fixes related to sleep mode:

  • This release addresses multiple issues which may cause the device to not wake from sleep mode.
  • Addresses an issue where the device may not wake up from sleep mode when receiving a fax if it is connected to an improperly grounded 220v power source.
  • Fixes an issue that may cause the device to fail to wake from sleep mode when receiving a print job over the network.
  • Fixes an issue where the printer may fail to wake from sleep mode when connected to an 802.1x wireless network.
  • Fixes an issue where the printer may stop responding to incoming network traffic for up to 10 seconds while coming out of sleep mode.
  • Addresses an issue where the outer buttons (home, back and the left and right arrows) on the touch screen control panel may become unresponsive when the product comes out of sleep mode.
  • Addresses an issue where the printer may fail to enter sleep mode.

Downloading and installing now...we'll see if this fixes it.

Interesting that I never got an email announcing this firmware release, as I am registered with HP to receive such announcements.

Hey, you are right, this is the newest FW which has that sleep mode issue fix.

I've upgraded the firmware recently but got the same issue with the printer.

Basically, the printer gone to sleep mode and intermittently it's unable to wake up to print jobs.

I've logged this case with HP, however they can't find me resolution on this.

It's pretty dissapointing and frustrated to use HP printers really.

Does anyone still have this issue and advise us?

Thanks.

I have 2 printers with this issue. I have tried the latest firmware with a negative result. I also have the M425 and the firmware was able to resolve that issue.

Any update for the M401?
