Hi,
Add me to the list of people whose printer got messed up.
The printer was working fine. I bought a new laptop and was installing the printer on the new laptop and the installation completed. After that the Printer went into this Inatilizing cycle. It does not come into ready mode at all to be able to update the firmware.
Any further suggestions.....

I just called HP support and told the tech supporter what the problem is (initializing after software updated downloaded from HP web site).
I was told I have to pay for tech support ($24.99 plus over $1 fee) when waranty was expired no matter what the cause is.
If HP can't fix the problem the charge will be refunded to me.
I will pay HP one time support and see what happen.

I Am not sure what HP plan to do about it, but i am sure that there are enough of us here to make sure that, if required, we file a complaint in the counsumer court.
The fact is that all our printers were working finr untill we downloaded what HP gave us as the "correct" driver for the printer.
'PCExpert': anything further on this. The printers may not cost much, but you are loosing dozens or clients for any future purchases.

Hi Wizard,
Have you found a solution yet. With the Inatilizing error, the printer never goes into a Ready mode. So, we can not reloaad a firmware either.
Please get the Full sollution driver of the website, it sure is not right.

It is outragous that after so many cases of damaging the printer M1212 HP still keeps the defective printer "update" on their website, which is supposed to help to repair the equipment.
Or, maybe, this is a deliberate action to get rid of the "low end" devices?

There is only one correction i wish to make, my Printer did not ask me to update the firmware (at-least i am not aware of it, it may have done it automatically). i used it on my other computer and had just printed something so the printer was fine.
I downloaded the software and on completion of installation it was printing a test page when it went into this error and just never came back.
It seems to me that the HP print Solution somewhere during the installation corrupts the printer. At present i am without a printer and request you to solve this issue at the earliest. It is highly inconvenient and frustrating. Is there no was we can upload a new firmware into the printer without it coming into Ready mode?
Thanks

Here are what I have just tried.
I disconnect USB cable from network router to M1212nf printer.
Turned printer power on, waited for seconds, and it was ready.
I made a copy without a problem.
HP supporter told me if it can make a copy (nothing to do computer and software) the hardware is not issue.
I turned printer off.
Then I re-connected printer to router using USB cable.
Turned it on.
I printed a file through my computer and got an error message.
I closed the error shown on the screen and tried it again.
It worked (printed the file).
I printed it again, and it worked too.
I tried three times and all printed.

Ron_88, can i request you to plese stay out of this as your problem is not same as ours. I am sure you are being kind and trying to help, but it may mislead people into wasting time trying your solution where it is not applicable.
PcWizard (HP support) Whats happening here, anything for us or should we be swearing off HP printers????
There has to be a way that the Firmware can be reloaded into the Printer, tell us how to do that or get HP to give some sort of solution where we can take it into the HP centre and they can patch it up.
