You can't understand what I am saying. Our printers are not recognized by the computer Period due to the eternal initialization. So everything you stated about installing software, connecting to network or firmware updates cannot be achieved if you have the problem we speak of here.

I am glad I read the postings in the forum. I can now stop banging my head on the wall looking for a solution that does not exist. Once again I am lucky enough to have a piece of equipment bricked by the manufacturer because of a fauly software update that was not needed or wanted. Thank you very much HP.........for my next printer I will be going back to canon or epson.

Same problem. My computer guy says it is bricked and only solution is new board which cost more than unit. Mine is laserjet 1536 mfp.
How can a company have you install their firmware from their website and turn their back on you without a fix or credit or something. Sounds like a good class action suit to me which resolves nothing but hp spending money class action attorneys getting rich and consumer screwed!!! Great PR!

Hi tuohylaw,

Do you remember your operations before priter bricked? such as update firmware utility or install software on new PC or anything else?

did you download the printer firmware from HP support page as below , or anywhere else?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3974...

Also , try the following reset steps for M1536:

1. Turn the product off.
2. Press and hold the Right arrow button and the Cancel button at the same time.
3. While holding down both buttons, turn the product on.
4. Continue to hold both buttons until Permanent Storage init. appears on the display, and then
release both buttons.

Hope this helps.

I also am experiencing this same issue.  Occurred after a firmware update and is now stuck in a reboot loop.  The printer will not communicate with any external devices, networked or local.
