M201dw
OS X

I am running OSX 10.10.  The blue wireless light is blinking and cannot find my wireless network.  I cannot find the Wireless Network Wizard on any of the menus.  I have tried running setup with a USB connected to my computer, but it still cannot find the printer.

I keep getting the error message "The assistant was not able to configure your device using a wireless connection."  Internet is up and running.

Please help.

Thanks,

Monica

Hello @monicabenson,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I would like to assist you today with setting up the wireless feature on your HP LaserJet Pro M201dw. I understand that when you previously attempted this from your Mac OS X 10.10 computer you are getting the message that "The assistant was not able to configure your device using a wireless connection." To correct this wireless connection issue please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Powercycle Network:

1. First, unplug the power cable to your Router
2. Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
3. Next, shut down your computer
4. After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
5. Next, turn on your printer
6. Turn on the computer

After a few minutes the internet connection will return. Please check on your Mac and ensure that you can browse to websites before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: Enable Wireless:

1. On the printer control panel, press the Wireless button (), and then press OK

2. Press the Right Arrow () so that On displays, and then press OK.

Step 3: Install Printer:

Due to the error that you previously received when configuring wireless can I please have you click here to download the full feature drivers for you printer. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left.

Once the download is complete follow any onscreen instructions to install your printer. When prompted, choose wireless. If prompted select your Network Name SSID and enter your WEP or WPA Key wireless password.

Note: Keep in mind that the wireless password is case sensitive.

Trying to enable Wireless on Laserjet Pro M201dw. All manuals (and online) speak of the right arrow - there is no right arrow (or left arrow) key on the pad. If I connect a router to the printer, remote printing works fine but what if I want to move the printer away from the router.

Serial # [Personal Information Removed] and Prodcut # CF456A purchased from Staples.

Can someone tell me how I amy find this right arrow which I need to configure?

As an Ex-HP support person who worked on printers back in 80s, I am particularly embarassed to ask.

Hey @EXHPMAN,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you're experiencing some issues when trying to configure the Wireless feature on your HP LaserJet Pro M201dw. I would like to assist you with this today. The left and right arrow keys are the buttons on either side of the OK button.

Just use the left and right arrows on either side of the OK button to navigate through the menu options for your printer.

You can press the right arrow on the printer until you see Wireless menu and select OK. Next, right arrow to Turn Wireless ON/OFF. Select OK to access this menu. Finally hit OK to turn Wireless ON. Once ON you can run the Wireless Setup via the installer on the computer.

NOTE: Make sure the Ethernet cable is disconnected when enabling the Wireless feature and configuring the Wireless connection. When the Ethernet is connected from the printer to the router the Wireless feature is disabled and cannot be enabled until the cable has been disconnected.

Please let me know if these steps work for you. Good luck! : )

I keep getting the same message that internet connection is unavailable. I don't use a proxy server--and my router is fine--so why can't I connect. Moreover, I want to enable eprint--but when I print the Web Service page it does not have the claim name.

thanks

It is 2016.

If we wanted to purchase a piece of equiment that requires the ability to write code, decifer DOS all while doing so upon a screen and menu system that may as well output via daisywheel, well, I suppose I would have bought this HP...

Not only is this fine piece of engineering going for return, but I will serioulsy reconsider buying another HP product based on the utter lack of ease involved in this process.
