HP Envy 5530 series
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Hi.

I have recently changed both ink cartridges in my HP ENVY 5530 printer..... The printer acknowledges this.

My computer has decided NOT to acknowledge this though and refuses to print. On my computer it says... Idle. The printer is low on ink. Supply levels shown are appoximate. Last updated 19/01/2017, 15:16.

I'd just appeciate any advice on the best way of updating this information on my computer (MacBook Pro) so I can resume my wireless printing.

Thanks in advance

Jonny

I understand you are having issues with your HP Envy 5530 printer does not recognise that the printer ink supply is full. I'll try my best to help you with this,

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridge?

Do you get any error message while printing?

Have you enrolled for any instant ink program from HP?

In the meantime, let's try to perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Biswajeet

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I have tried the hard reset twice now but still on my computer it shows an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle and still suggests the printer is low on the tri colour ink..... even though the printer shows it is full.

I have been enrolled on the HP instant ink program for many months now...... so yes, I am definitely using the correct cartridges. Might it be worth asking for another tri-colour cartridge to try?

Any other suggestions welcome!!!

Thanks

Jonny
