Hi All. I've mucked up my printer setttings and really just want the secret to resetting all settings and configuration back to factory defaults. The embedded web server doesn't offer this option and other Inet searches give solutions/results for other models (e.g. holding down certain keys on power up) - but these seem to work with printers that have physical buttons - not the 6500A plus. Any idea on how to do this kind of reset ? Thanks in Advance!

Hi - thanks for the reply. No error messages displayed. Just know there's a secret process, probably frowned on though.

Having issues with my 6500A Plus printing invoices all of a sudden!  Would like to reset to factory setting to see if that fixes the issue, any help out there?

Hi,

Need to perform full factory reset on OJ 6500A plus.  Think power was removed during the initial ink charge process, and 0xc19a0022 error now appears evertime I turn on.  Printhead never filled with ink, and new cartridges are installed.

We tried all of the previous troubleshooting steps, cleaning contacts etc....

Thanks!

Hi there,

I understand a few of you are looking how to restore the printer to its default settings, and that you thebunksan are now getting an Ink System Failure message on your printer. I will certainly do my best to help with these issues.

Please be aware before restoring the printer to factory defaults, that this will wipe ALL settings from your printer. That means any wireless information, fax information or any other preferences will be gone. All these settings can be re-entered, so make sure you have all this information before resetting the printer.

To restore the Officejet 6500A to factory defaults just follow the steps below:

1. Select the Setup option on the front panel of the printer.

2. Navigate to the Tools option.

3. Under Tools, navigate to Restore Factory Defaults and select it.

4. Select Yes when asked if you're sure you want to restore the printer to factory defaults.

For thebunksan, the error of 0xc19a0022 indicates an ink system failure. There are many steps to try for this error, so hopefully this document will get you on the right path.

Hope this helps, have a great day!

Hi,

Thanks for the information, however following the steps did not solve the problem.

There seems to be two items that have failed.  The Y cartridge and the printhead itself.

When I use the original Y cartridge, the printhead carriage will thrash back and forth and slam the printhead against the side of the mechanism, violently.  When I remove the y cartridge the carriage behaves normally.

And seems that the printhead has also suffered some fault as well  The printer asks for the printhead to be installed, even thought it is.

I have another printhead arriving today and have a new Y cartridge, so hopefully this combo will give us some joy.

Thanks for the help!
