laserjet pro P1102W
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OK, the printer is installed on my computer and works via the USB cable.  However, when running the installation software, and telling it to install the printer as a wireless network printer, it stops with two windows open:

"Configure to print using USB" which prompts me to connect the USB cable, which is connected already, and

"Installling HP LaserJet Profession P1100W Series, - Waitig for you to connect the device"

I know the printer, USB cable and USB ports work because the prnter will work as a USB enabled printer. But it does not get beyond this step.

Some other notes:

1) Pressing the wireless network button results in a blinking blue light, but never connects, which is not suprising since my nework has a password.

2) The HP web site says it has a firmware update, but when I download and try to insall, it says there is no P1102W on my PC.

3) On the other hand when I use the HP website to identify printers on my system, the P1102W always pops up.

Suggestions?

Hey @palewis,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see you are having some issues with installing your Laserjet Pro p1102w Printer on your Windows 10 PC. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer was plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once that is done.

  1. Remove the USB cable if it is connected to your PC.
  2. Turn the printer off.
  3. While the printer is powered off, hold down both buttons on the top of the printer.
  4. While holding down the buttons, turn the printer on.
  5. Continue to hold the buttons for another ten seconds.
  6. On your PC, open your C:/ drive. If you have a folder with a name similar to Laserjet Pro P1100, open the folder, open the UTIL folder, and run the hpscrubber.
  7. Restart your PC.
  8. At this point, run the HP Installer, but do not install the USB cable until the installer asks for it.

Please let me know what happened when following the above. If you are able to install wirelessly, please click on Accept Solution to let other user's know. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. You should find both under this post.
