Selecting Copy on the printer control panel brings up the copy menu where I can select size, color and number of copies.

After making selections the OK button lightes up.  Pressing the OK button has no effect.

I can scan my document then print it out ok but the printer won't copy from the control panel.

What OS are you using?

How is the printer connected?

My printer is connected via wireless network to two Mac's and by USB to my Dell PC.  I am using Windows XP on my Dell PC.  Ordinarily I am making copies without my PC connected.  Until today, it has always worked.  I did nothing different.  Scanning and printing is working OK.  It just won't copy at all.  I push all the right buttons but no action.

Looks like there is an update for the unreponsive controll panel.  Make sure to install this update from the XP computer.  It won't work from the Macs.

I was having this exact same issue and I scoured the incredibly frustrating HP website and troubleshooting guides and read all the "advice" from the forum "experts" (what a joke; "what operating system do you have?"; irrelevant!).  Perhaps it is too difficult for HP to admit that the issue is just that you are LOW ON INK.  That simple.

My advice is to print a test page from your computer with both black and color text so you find out which ink you're low on, replace the appropriate cartridge, and your copy function will work.  This is a pretty stupid functionality issue and I imagine the company just doesn't want to admit it;  Apparently the copy function shuts down when you are low on ink.

Sorry for the rant.  I hope this helped you

I brought one of these all in one printers back in 2010. Ive not used it much and I have had the same issue with it not being able to copy a document as a stand alone photo copier. Its really annoying because that was the primary reason for buying it. It works well connected to a PC and used as a wifi printer from my laptop but today I decided to kill or cure it.. I have read posts on other sites that suggest the problem is linked to ink levels, using fake (non HP) cartridges.. Refilling cartridges..... It may be something to do with this.. ANYWAY... Mine was defiantly not copying before I did this.... Basically, I took my printer apart. Google it..there are 4 star drive screws holding the scanner onto the rest of the printer. Lift it off and you will see some connectors linking the scanner and the print head to a circuit board at the back of the unit. Disconnect all of them.. I powered my unit on while these were disconnected and left it on for a few minutes. Disconnect the power...reconnect everything and re-assemble. Power it back on and see if it works.. I dont know what doing all this  did but mine deffo didnt work before, but it deffo works and copies now.. It may have simply been a bad connection....then again, it may reset something..either way, mine works now with the same reconditioned cartridges are before...
