I have a Photosmart D110a, using an iMac running OS 10.7.4 (Lion).

In the middle of printing, I received a message of a problem with the color cartridge. When I open the cartridge access door, the cartridge carriage does not return to center so that I can change the cartridge. The printer status panel shows the message, "Ink Cartridge Access Door is open." When I close the door, the power button flashes and I get a message on the printer, "Print Cartridge(s) ink shorts or damaged." HP Message center on my desktop shows "Printer cartridge failure. A printer cartridge failed. Check the status panel on the printer for more information.

I am using remanufactured cartridges which have never given me a problem in the past.

I will appreciate any help so that I can replace the color cartridge.

Thanks

Hello KiwiniD,

The following link will help with carriage jams for the Photosmart D110a.

Kenneth,

Thanks for the rapid response.

Overnight, the carriage return problem resolved itself. I replaced the black cartridge, continued to get the same error messages, removed and re-inserted the color cartridge and now the printer seems to be working ok.

If the problem returns, I will try the solutions you recommended.

Thanks, again.

My printer is doing the same thing. That my ink catridge is short or damaged. It was working fine until i cleaned the ink catridges. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?

@kimpjacobs- I will need a little more information in order to help out. Do you have the same printer mentioned in the post or a different model of printer that is just sharing the same problem with the carriage jam? Are you getting any error messages on the printer display screen?
