I feel your frustration. Are these new original cartridges or refilled? I know you cleaned the contacts with rubbing alcohol and dried...

I have an HP c4480 and a deskjet 6980.

The ink cartridges on both are over half full.

The printer now reads incompatible print cartridge.

What is going on?

Dear Sir/madam

I have bought printer C4680 from school in UK. Now I return home in Hong Kong and brought HP60 to replace the coloured ink cartridge. My printer cannot work and state imcompatible ink cartridge.I have tried to clearn the contact point both at the printer and the cartridge, it still cannot help!

What can I do? Please give me instruction.

Thank you for your attention

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.

What printer model?  What cartridge are you replacing?  Is the replacement cartridge the same number as the cartridge you are replacing?  Are you using HP cartridges or third party?

Depending on the printer model then cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown in this document may resolve the issue.
