Thank you so much - you're a lifesaver.  When right clicking on the printer within the 'devices and Printer' window  though, choose 'printer properties' and not just 'properties'.

I have the exact same problem, however I use Mac and there's no such option on Mac. What should I do?

Hello Angelica,

Try this:

Go to Page Setup and from the size dropdown, go to Manage Custom Sizes.
Here create your A3 size and name it. Word will now make your document A3 size

Please let me know if this helps.

Good luck!

Hello sorry, did not saw your reply.

No creating the custom paper was not a problem. I did that. The problem is that, when I try to print, it gives me an error saying the selected tray does not support the custom paper size.

The problems are:

1- My printer is a HP OfficeJet Pro k8600 so there's only one tray here

2- I use to print fine on WIndows XP, my problems started on Windows 7 and remain now that I'm on Mac

3- I'm only having problem to print on A3+ papers. A3 I can print fine

4- Digging a little around this on Internet I'm starting to think that the problem is something related the Custom Paper size and the HP printers capacity on handling it. I found a guy having problems printing an envelop! http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/HP-8600-Plus-Error-Message-Paper-detect...

I'm starting to get desperated here. I really need this to do my work!

I'm also trying to get this solved here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/Unable-to-Print-on-A3-A3-or-B-Ledger-Paper-on...  but still no luck

I'm using Mac OSX 10.8.4. Try to reinstall drivers, try to re-create the printer, try to re-create the paper size on different ways. Nothing worked.

Any ideas?
