It may or may not work, like in my situation. Luckily I was still (barely) within my warranty window and had it replaced.

Hi @Kimsonl,

I see by your post that you would like the reset to try, since the printer is stuck initializing. I would like to help.

I have provided the previous steps in case you missed them, please try  them first.

Disconnect USB/Network/FAX and power on Standalone unit.

Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner.

Do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

If the issue persists, perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and in case of a power switch keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power chord.

Try and update the printer's firmware. Software & Drivers. This has fixed this issue with other posters.

I can send a private message with some another step to try.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Have a nice day! Thank You.

Hi Gemini02,

Sorry but the fix didn't work. The printer is still stuck in intializing and the carousel won't rotate automatically. Is there anything else you could recommend, keeping in mind that this machine is out of warranty and recently purchased on eBay?

Regards,

ChrisAust.

Hi @ChrisAust,

I have seen other posts where the firmware update by a USB cable resolved this issue, as long as the printer is detected it may also help you. If you did all the other steps and the Nvram Reset and are still having the same results, the printer will need to serviced.

You can Contact HP Support  and even though your printer is Out of Warranty, you might have an option  to Trade in the printer, if you want to take that route. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance. Thank You.
