This printer is only a couple of months old and I'm getting Error # 403.  I've wasted a couple of hours downloading software, scanning to computer only to be told the scan is not readable and now I can't scan to email.  If there is a fix for this error, please send it.

Thanks! This worked for me

Hi Kyle

Please can you send me the reset instructions in a private email. I am getting the same 403 error as other users when trying to scan to email and nothing else has worked to fix it.

Thanks

Anne

Have Photosmart 6520

Get error 403 when trying to scan to email. Worked fine before.

Many people have been asking the same question.

Everytime someone called Kyle says he has sent the instructions.

Why not put the instructions in the answer directly?

If not possible please send the instructions to my mail.

Hi Kyle,

We have the 5520 with the same problem.  When you have a minute, would you send me the steps also.

Thanks!!

Eric

The hard reboot was the fix that worked for me. I asked for the instructions to be mailed to me but never received them. Just reading through the feeds I saw this response by KYLE posted 4/22/13 with step by step instructions. It's still there. Posts go in date order.

Make sure printer is on
Unplug cord from printer
Unplug power cord from wall
Wait at least 15 secs
Plug in power cord to wall
Plug in cord to printer
Printer should run through start up if not press power on button

The simple hard reset doesn't seem to work for everyone, but it would be the first thing that I would do. Doing the reset that I send via private message resets the printer completely, but it resolves the issue.

Andersno - That would make things a lot easier, but it is against HP policy to post the steps in the forum or make them public. You are accessing a hidden menu in the printer and if you don't follow the steps or start playing around with other settings, you could damage the printer or even brick the firmware. There is a reset that will wipe the printer completely to the point that it doesn't even have firmware.

I have sent the steps to everyone that asked, if I missed you, just let me know.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Kyle:

I am having this same issue and tried your publicly posted fixes.  Can you send the steps to the fix that has been working for others.  Thanks in advance.
