HP Printer P1006
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I bought a new PC with 64-bit system and tried to install the driver of my printer (Model P1006).  However, I couldn't print anything after installation, only to find that the driver was meant for 32-bit system.

When trying to uninstall, I was stucked.  Is there a way to remove the existing driver for 32-bit system and reinstall one for 64-bit?  (Tried to delete the printer but failed as well)

Many thanks!

Rgds,

Stanford

Hey @Stanford_Li

Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.

I see that you're unable to uinstall your HP LaserJet P1006 Printer. I would like to assist.

I recommend you try the following steps:

Remove temp files from your PC:

  • Press Windows key + r
  • Type %temp% and press Enter
  • Press Ctrl + a to select all files
  • Press Delete
  • Note that some files may not allow for deletion - not to worry, this is normal. Just click skip as prompted.
  • Empty your Recycle Bin upon completion.

Stop and Start Windows Installer at the Command Line

  • Press Windows key + r and type cmd (run as administrator if prompted)
  • Type net stop msiserver and press Enter
  • Type net start msiserver and press Enter
  • Type exit and press Enter

Uninstall your printer

  • Press the Windows key +r
  • Type control panel and press Enter
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Select your printer's driver from the list and click to uninstall

If that works out, click here and try reinstalling your printer. Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.

E-roq,

I followed to the end of your instructions.  The box appeard that says "Deleting driver files..."  It says "Setup is uninstalling your software."  The blue line travels horrizontally to the right, then repeats and repeats.  It's been doing this for the last 10 minutes.  Does not finish.  Ideas?
