Hello hp4750. I understand that you are having issues running your printer software after it extracts. I am going to provide some suggestions that could potentially resolve the issue.
Firstly, if the software extracted correctly, it should leave an entry in the temporary Windows folder. To access that folder, hold the Windows key and the letter "R". This opens the Run program. In the program, type %temp% and hit enter. Next, look for a folder starting with "7z" and double-click it. Once your in that folder, look for a program named "setup.exe" and double-click it. This will open the printer installation wizard and guide through the installation.
If that doesn't work, there is one other simple task. When the download is extracting, force it to extract to the desktop instead of the temporary folder. This may cause the installation to run properly after extraction.
Please inform me when you complete the troubleshooting, so I know the results. I will continue to troubleshoot if necessary.

Did everything as suggessted, same problem, file extracts, but does not install. I did not find the setup.exe in the 7Z folders (17 folders showing). I downloaded again to desktop, get box showing extrating files, then nothing happens. Verified system as 64 bit for download. The HP doctor intalled fine and is working instructing me to install the full version software. Everything tells me it downloaded, but does not run. Even if it is not supporting my printer, I would think it should still install Here is download file name: PS_AIO_06_C4700_140_408.exe. Thank you for the response

Hi Ben42,
I understand you are having issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless and your Windows 8.1. You can download and install the full featured software and drivers.
Also, make sure you turn off the printer and turn it back on just before doing the install.
Please let me know how this goes.
Thanks

Only the HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 is supported at this time. If yours is the 8500 A909 model, it won't be detected.
We are working on a new versoin of the app speicifc for Windows 8.1 that will pick up support for older devices. You will have to download and install the desktop drivers for your device from HP Support website still though.

HI Ben-
WIth the 909g the HP Scan and Capture app will not see this (yet). As I indicated we are working on a new release of the app that takes advantage of new MS APIs for Scan that will allow us to see this device.
I assume that your desktop install of the SW succeeded and that drivers for your scanner are installed.
Given that, on Windows 8.1, you have 2 options for scanning:
1) Use "Windows Fax and Scan" to do your scans. This is a desktop app that was available in Win 7 and previous OS.
2) Use the new "Scan" client that MS provided. This is a Store app installed by default on your system. As long as the drivers for your 909g were installed for scanning, it will show up in the "Scan" app.
