Hi, I am interested in buying an HP ePrint enabled printer with "Scan to Cloud" functionality. However I can't find any information online about which cloud services are supported. I'd particularly like the printer to be able to scan direct to Dropbox. 

 

Also, can anyone confirm that this is an autonomous feature of an ePrint enabled printer -- e.g. a client PC or mobile device is not required to drive the 'scan to cloud' functionality?

There are a couple of apps available that support scan to cloud, the two that i know of are a google docs app, and a box.net app. I haven't actually seen any apps for dropbox available.

 

These are also completely done on the printer, the only thing a PC or mobile device is needed for is to make the account at www.eprintcenter.com and manage the account if needed.

 

The alternative as well is the scan to email app available which can send scans to your email account instead, and you could then move them over to your dropbox account.

I didn't realise that with ePrint, you actually use apps on the printer -- interesting concept.

It definitely is interesting to say the least, people are using these services for all kinds of things even HP didn't foresee in the beginning.

 

If you do go ahead with the purchase of a printer for the apps, you'll likely want something with a large screen like the officejet pro 8600 series, or the photosmart 6520/7520s. This makes working with the apps a much easier process.

Could you explain more on the scan to email app that you mentioned? I am looking for an application where we could set up a scanner so that when we push the scan button, this will send the scanned documents directly in an email to the end user without having to go to the computer. Not sure if this is possible, but if you have a solution that might help me, that would be great.

The Udocx cloud app may be a good solution for you. It integrates the MFP with Dropbox, SharePoint and email. So when you press scan the document is automatically routed to the location of your choice or sent directly to your selected outlook contact(s).

 

Personally, I find it very useful not to have to go to my pc after scanning.

Hello, I just purchased the LJ200 color laser all-in-one.  I have it mostly set up, scan to email, scan to computer (even got it scanning to a RT tablet) as well as printing from our IOS and windows devices.  However, what I cannot get it to do is this:

 

"Scanning options include scan to USB drive, scan to a network folder, scan to PDF (including searchable) and scan to a cloud service such as Evernote or Dropbox."

 

The above is from the documentation that came with the device.  Sure, it works to the usb, network folder, scans as a PDF, but - how do you get it set up to scan to cloud, specifically Dropbox.

 

I would think that there are some settings one could use under "scan to a network folder" that would allow dropbox to work, or even OneNote (SkyDrive).  What and how do I have to do in order to get this to happen?

 

I've tried going to the apps tab and using google docs / drive - it won't accept my password no matter what, and from the 139 comments on this in another thread, I am not alone.  I did get "Box" to work, but I don't want to use box.

Can anyone help with this?  Why does the documentation that comes with this printer say you can scan directly to Evernote and Dropbox, and you cannot?
