Welcome to the HP Forums IVOTHECAT,
I see by your post that the printer keeps going offline.
I can help you with this issue.
If the printer is on the network, the router might be reassigning the IP address for the printer.
You can try running the add printer wizard to install a new driver.
Go to start, devices and printers, add a printer.
I have also included this document to setup the wireless again and to setup a static IP address so the router will always assign the same IP address to the printer.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
If the printer is through a USB connection then follow the steps in this document I have provided to resolve this issue.
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB connection is directly into the computer and not a hub. Might be a issue with the USB cable. Try another USB cable.
If the problem persists, then I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
Uninstalling the Printer Software.
HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next and click on the software to download and install.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

Welcome to the HP Forums karnap,
I see by your post that the printer keeps going offline on the Mac. I can help you with this issue.
The router might not be finding the device on the network.
I would do a power reset on the router.
Disconnect the routers power cable.
Wait 10 seconds and then reconnect the power cable.
Wait till it's ready.
Restart the Mac and the printer.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Test the printer.
If the issue persists, then reset the printing system on the Mac and readd the printer back in again.
Reset Printing System
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
- Click the Apple icon (
), and then click System Preferences.
- In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. (Printers and Scanners)
- Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel and then click Reset printing system.
- Click OK to confirm the reset.
- Type the correct Name and Password.
- Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then add the printer from the same window:
Click the + sign, select the printer from the list, make sure the printer listed beside use: shows the proper printer name and not Airprint, (Airprint is a preinstalled apple driver with basic functionality) click on the add button.
You might have to click on the drop down to select your printer.
Try and print again.
You can setup a static IP for the printer. I would be able to provide that information once I know which printer you have.
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
If you need further assistance, let me know.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Configuration: HP Officejet Pro 8100 attached as wireless printer. Desktop PC running Windows 7. Microsoft Surface Pro running Windows 8.1. Lenovo Yoga running Windows 8.1. Never have a problem printing from the PC or Surface Pro. But on the Lenovo, the printer is offline 80% of the time. Rebooting the Lenovo doesn't help. All 3 machines show the same IP address for the printer. Rebooting the router usually enables the printer to come online on the Lenovo, but rebooting the router daily is not a good option. If the Lenovo can see the printer (knows its IP address), why is it in the offline status, and how can I get it back online from offline?

Hi egertz,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that just the one computer is having offline issues.
I can help you with this.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
You can setup a static IP for the printer.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Go to Solution four: Assign your printer a static IP address.
Try these steps to see if it will resolve the issue.
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
If the issue persists, please let me know.
Thank You.

Hi @lgreen1225,
I see by your post that the printer keeps going offline. I can help you with this, but I will need some more information.
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
In the mean time go through the steps in this document, also run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Do you have a static IP setup for the printer?
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

This is a reply to everyone. I've recently purchased the HP Officejet 6700 and i've been struggling with the SAME issue. I just figured out my issue...if this helps anyone else, not sure. I'm working off of a MAC BOOK PRO 10.9 Mavericks. I exited out of anything to do with the printer and went to my actualy network connection in the system settings since this seems to be the issue. The printer is fine, it's the connection we are all having issues with. I have my computer using one type of WIFI whereas I have to have my printer on a different. Well, everytime I turn on the WIFI for the printer, I have to go back into the wifi settings and turn off and back on the wifi options so that the computer will pick up the same line the printer is using. Problem Solved!! FINALLY!!
