Joining the herd with the same issue just out of warranty with the same distaste about being asked to pay for help on an problem that appears statistically to be an HP issue - and for the push from support to sell me a new printer when this one should still be fully functioning.

It seems shortsighted for HP especially with the entries I saw where pending purchases for HP computers and future sales of HP products are being sworn off because of their approach to this problem.  Not to mention that all of us have spent 2 to 3 times the original cost of the printer on ink refills to date.  It would seem the people at HP would realize what the Gillette people figured out in '50s that they make their money on the blades - not the razors.  Especially if the post I saw is true that the radio replacement card can be bought by us for $20 - what does that mean it would cost HP to replace it to keep the ongoing ink revenues & loyal customers?

I am joining the herd in swearing off future HP purchases for computer products - not for revenge - but for the fact that a company too short sighted to help with an issue that happens just out of warranty - makes me question what 'shortcuts' are they taking in manufacturing costs on new products.

So long HP.

So here is the update on my printer.  HP allowed me to purchase an extended warrenty for $45.00 which gives me three extra years of coverage.  They replaced my printer with the same model and the warrenty has now transferred to it.  They were very nice after I was patient and jumped through all the little hoops that they had to jump through to get to the point where they would replace my printer.  I am in Canada so my model was still available.  This may be a viable option for those of you who can still get the same model where you are.  You can buy the extended warrenty on line from the HP site and I don't believe it matters if you are currently out of warranty.

If that is true, it would be a MAJOR reversal in my experience to date.

I found the online option to purchase the extended warranty.  But i printed ALL the fine print I could find to determine if there were any restrictions on the time of purchase - without any reference.  I stopped short of purchasing until i find the answer; so i intend on trying to call them tonight.  thanks

Upon further review the extended warranty plans you purchased were for items still under warranty.  The page did mention the option for out of warranty, a possible 1 year warranty but you have to call to see if you qualify.

I was offered the extended warranty by the help desk when I phone HP about my problem.  It sounded good so I took it.  I am not sure if I was still in my warranty period or not but he sold me the extended warranty.  Once I went through all their solutions and I pointed out that these printers had a problem with the wireless radio and gave them the link to this board they escalated, I waited a few days, then they agreed to replace the printer which they did.

I have the same problem, and ordered the card p/n 1150-7931 from impact, they dont have any, I bought this printer because I couldnt get ink for the lexmark unit i had. Now a little over a year later I get this message. To put it bluntly, not being able to purchase a replacement for  the obviously defectively engineered card  SUCKS!!!. HP needs to address this issue, make a re-engineered card available. I fully suggest to everyone here to use every social media outlet you can use to describe in detail the fine quality this product has brought to you. Nothing worse for business than a p'd off customer.

I had the same issue.  I, too, searched the web but no card with the HP p/n 1150-7931.  But Prime (primelec.com) Electronic does have the same card but with a slightly different (straight rather than right angle) pin/plug orientation (HP p/n 1150-7930).  As is, it will not fit, trust me.  But, I bought 2 (they're on sale for $5.99 plus postage).  I called a local (non-big box) electronics parts store and they gave me the name of a local guy who does electronics work.   For 10 bucks and in 10-15 minutes he unsoldered the right-angle pin/plug from the bad card, unsoldered the straight pin plug from the new (1150-7930) card and soldered the right-angle plug on to the new card.  He said that it could be a bit challenging for a true DIYer and you need to remember to correctly orient the right-angle plug on the new card.  I plugged the card in, ran the wireless setup wizard and I'm back in wireless action.  The information on accessing and removing the card (with photos) can be found earlier (page 7?) on this forum.  You'll also need a Torx screwdriver.  It may sound complicated but for a total of $28.58 and some legwork I'm printing wirelessly again (and I have a backup card should I need it).  Good luck.
