I'm trying to reinstall my hp Photosmart C5280 in Windows 7 64-bit., after an OS recovery.

I downloaded AIO sofware from HP site but when I run setup the only option available is "Exit", no install option.

I've tried to run Uninstall-L1, Uninstall-L2 and Uninstall-L3 from the \Util\CCC\ folder but L2 crashes and can't finish the uninstall.

Please help

Hello dluis

The following steps are to fully uninstall all HP printer software. Follow the steps in order without skipping any. If the problem persists I still believe it is a problem with the Operating System.

From Original installation CD:

1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the L4uninstall.bat

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

Photosmart C5280 Full Feature Software (Windows 7)

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Type %temp% in the run field

2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the L4uninstall.bat

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

Photosmart C5280 Full Feature Software (Windows 7)

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

Hello dluis

May I ask what the reasoning behind the OS recovery was and how it was performed?

Have you tried to run the L4 Uninstall and what is the exact error you receive when running the L2 Uninstall?

Hello Travis

Thanks for the feedback

I had to run windows recovery tool because I couldn't boot after a system crash .

I tried to run L4 and this was the error message:

L4.png

The error after running L2 Was:

L2.png

Finally, when I run setup again the only optin available is "Exit"

Any ideas?

I'm really desperate...

Hello dluis

Based on what you have stated and the screenshots, there seems to be a problem with your Windows installation.

The System Crash, inability to boot, and the software crashes lead me to believe there is a stability problem.

I suggest backing up your data and doing a clean installation of your operating system.

Hi Travis

Thanks for your reply, but as everything is working fine on my computer except for this problem I think the issue may be related to previously installed HP software on my machine.

Is there any uninstall procedure that FULLY uninstalls the software?

I remember having similar problem in the past with Vista and, after uninstalling HP software, the installation was succesfull.

Best regards

Hello Travis,

I followed your instructions, uninstalled the software, reinstalled the printer and it's working just fine.

The problem was the software not the OS.

Thanks for the help.
