Earlier I was assisted (successfully) on properly installing an updated device driver - took about a day of work, but completed. I might add that in addition to the HP steps recommended, I went to Start > HP > HP Updates and that seemed to add some more current software - namely to the CD Installer. I would add this step to your instructions, HP.

All the issues I'm now experiencing have to do with an updated/new wireless network installed. I am still not able to connect wirelessly to the CP1525nw printer. I have followed the step by step instructions here (several attempts - USB, Push Button, PIN approaches  - none working), with multiple laptop reboots. Seems like every time the connection process hangs/gets stuck at the "Connect the Product" step (CD has been inserted at this point) and I get to 99% and then it drops, telling me there's a fatal error and I need to reboot. I can't get to the "Install" step.

In addition, each time I re-connect the USB to the laptop in conjunction with the Connect step, Microsoft is trying to indentify the device driver. I just ignore it. However, the error message of "Spooler SubSystem App stopped working and was closed" keeps coming up when the MSFT identification process is going. I also try to ignore this. There is a fix on MSFT site for this item but you need to have the printer identified in the Printer folder (unfortunately the HP directions have told me to remove the printer from this area as part of the connection instructions.)

There are some nuanced things that apparently I'm not doing. Help!
(OS is Windows Vista 64 bit)

Hi again.

Interestingly something must have connected itself properly b/c now going into the printer browser page, I can see everything connected (Security mode is WPA). Blue light on printer is on constantly now (not blinking). I was able to print a test report (with all items passing). When I tried printing a test Word doc wirelessly from my laptop, I kept getting errors. (had to make sure printer was not 'offline') and then I changed my port setting to the printer (was somehow set somewhere else).

Long story short, it WORKS NOW! Yay!.

This email chain is pretty lengthy and I was faced with a specific issue, but I am now connected wirelessly to my LaserJet CP1525nw color.

The issue is software related at this point.  The issue is a fatal error.

The document you linked refers to installing the printer on a network, but have you tried the steps in this Fatal Error document from HP?  If not, give the steps a try as they have the best chance at resolving a fatal error issue.

Hi-

Yes, I do want to connect to the printer wirelessly...let's approach another way. I have the Config Report, and the Wireless Network Test Report. Wireless On and Wireless Working are both pass. SSID is not found. [i know what it is an it is broadcast, securely]. How do I ensure the printer network name (SSID) matches my network? The wireless network setup process is not working (WPS, pin...).

HP Recommended

There are two ways to approach getting this printer on the network (three if you count WPS).  WPS will be omitted since that is not working and has been tried already.  The wireless radio is more than likely working since it shows passed for working.

The first approach is to use a USB to wireless setup.  Due to the limited front panel, the printer is designed primarily with software to get on the network.

I recommend uninstalling the printer software before continuing so that what you see matches the document exactly.

The first approach requires a computer on the same WiFi network and a USB cable to transmit the network information to the printer.

Use step 5 under Vista of this document from HP.  These steps are the easiest to follow and is the intended way to get this printer on a network.

There is an alternate way to get the printer on a network.  You can review my post regarding this alternate method.  The steps in the post may be different, since it is using a different model printer, but the steps should be similar.

Hi-

I have tried all the 'standard' steps umpteem times (including uninstalling/re-installing/rebooting umpteen times) to get the printer connected to my wireless network. None of the options in Step 5 work.

For your alternate post, it's not clear if upon opening the browser, one should be able to connect? Do I have the printer connected to the laptop via USB? Do I use the same IP address you list, or do I use the one I have noted on the computer config page from the Scan Doctor document.

Added to post: I am able to see/"connect" to the network being projected from the printer but nothing happens when I "connect" to it with the laptop - can't get online, nor can print.

I consider myself pretty adept at fixing most basic computer/printer items but this one confounds me - it's intended to be simple but not one of the outlined steps is working for me.

I will add that I did contact Customer Support last week - even paid the $25 for the incident help - the woman gave me the same guidance I'd already sourced/read in these forums. When she reached her knowledge limit - she said she "needed to research this further" and committed to calling me back the next morning at a prescribed time. It's now been 2 weeks since then and I never received a call. I have however, disputed that charge.

When I was under warranty, I had to call in on this EXACT same issue and I was IM for a good hour with an ADVANCED tech person. Her name was "Summer S." and she was fantastic. The problem was solved.

The reason I have this printer is to be able to print wirelessly. Am extremely dissatisfied at the moment.

The process would work something like this.  I do not have an 1525 to create an exact walk through, but I will be using a 1025 which is similar to the 1525.

This process will require a wireless capable device (laptop, tablet, etc.).  Make sure to disconnect the USB cable as it will not be used for this process.

1.  On the wireless network, connect to the printer's network.  The printer's network name should have HP in the name.  It may say something like HP-Print-model of printer or something similar.  This step is important and is necessary for the rest to work.

2.  Now that the wireless device is connected, open a web browser.  Enter 192.168.223.1 in the address field and go to this site.  The printer's status page should load.

If the status page does not, print a network configuration page and it should have a 169.254.X.X address.  Use this address instead (only if 192.168.223.1 does not work).

The status page should look similar to this:

1025_statuspage.JPG

3.  Click on Networking at the top to get this screen:

network_tab.JPG

4.  Click on Wireless Configuration to get this screen:

wireless networks.JPG

5.  This screen is a little different that what I typically see at this point.  On most printers, there is a Wireless Setup Wizard button that can start the process of connecting to the network.  The only option for me on the 1025 was to enter the network information manually.  I suspect the 1525 will have the same screen.  If not, it should have the wireless setup wizard.

If entering manually, make sure to enter everything exactly as it is since it is case sensitive.

6.  Once the network information is entered, click Apply.  Give it a few minutes and it should be on the network and the installation software should find it.

Let me know what happens.

Hi -

Appreciate the reply/guidance...I'm stuck at the step of getting online once I"m connected to the HP printer network. I'm "connected successfully" to the HP network (though no bars showing at all which makes me wonder) but neither in IE nor Mozilla can I get to any web page, much less the IP address you provided.

I tried turning off my firewall too but that didn't seem to change anything. Am sure I have to adjust a basic network setting?

There will not be any Internet connection when you are connected to the printer.  So, no web site will load because the computer is connected to the printer which is not a router and does not provide an Internet connection.

However, it seems that only 192.168.223.1 was used.  Since that did not work, it appears 192.168.223.1 does not work, but there is a note regarding this in the previous steps.

Let's clear the printer memory to get a clean start.

Disconnect the power from the wall and the printer for one minute.  Reconnect the power to the printer and turn it on.  Wait for it to finish the boot process.  Laserjets can take a few minutes.

Now, connect the computer to the printer's network again.

Print a network configuration page as you have done before.  This should have a 169.254.X.X address.  Follow the above steps above using the 169.254.X.X address instead of the 192.168.223.1.

Good news & bad news.

Good news I was able to get to the screen you outlined with a 169.254.X.X IP address. Bad news - I could only access it once. Meaning I wasn't able to replicate getting back to that page (I repeat the steps you outline/have cleared cache/cookies) but the browser keeps timing out when I'm connected to the HP network.

Any tips here?

(progress...)

I need to augment my previous entry. I didn't realize the IP address kept changing each time I connected to the HP printer wireless network. No wonder I couldn't access the config window in the browser.

I am able to access the printer config area > Networking > Wireless Configuration and enter the info as instructed. I enter the SSID of my network but the connection does not seem to be supported. I even tried playing with the WEP/WPA settings to no avail (I have that info from my provider). The "no authentication" choice seems to be rejected.

Any thoughts on this one? Inching closer.
