@ the two Tutors above: This is not the case for all printers and it certainly was not the case when I raised my post back in June 2015.

People are not stupid! If it was available on the HP website then myself and other users would have found it!

Your advice and method is correct but Solution Centre was not downloadable when needed after the Windows 10 upgrade.

Just keep trying is my advice. If you haven't found it yet you will have to trust that HP will eventually get their finger out.

I think this post should be closed now because as usual the main thrust of it has been lost and so called experts are preaching to other users as if they are in some way incompetent.

I tried the suggestion to download the Windows 8.1 software, but Windows 10 blocked the installation, despite me disabling antivirus, etc.   Having downloaded drivers for my OfficeJet 4500 this only gives me scan options for .jpeg, .bmp, formats, etc.  The only way I can scan documents to PDF formats is to open Foxit Reader & click Scan, which takes me to what HP Solution Centre window use to give me.

Can anybody give me a suggestion to help me avoid having to go in a roundabout way to scan documents to PDF format?

In spite of the whining and abusive attitude from the poster above you, all of the available drivers and software are contained on this site under the support/software and drivers link. If what you want is not there you either have to bother HP and hope and wait for them to update it, or consider buying a new printer. Good home printers are really cheap.

I'm now inclined to totally agree with what you wrote, having tried so many different from obviously inexperienced people.  It's somewhat annoying that HP cannot provide us with software compatible to Windows 10 thus giving us the same features as in the previous Windows operating systems.

Very poor answer.  Why should we be forced into purchasing new printers, whilst our existing ones are still working well with full cartridges?  I have an inkjet & a Laser HP printer, both of which worked well prior to Windows 10.  As you claim to be an HP employee, suggest that you address our problems with your employer & provide us with a proper and experienced solution!!!!

Kenlong?

The title of "Tutor" bestowed upon you by HP is just a name and it is allocated to those who post a certain number of times in this forum. It is not a Harvard lecturing qualification!

It doesn't mean that you have great knowledge or are some sort of Guru.

A number of the replies above are possibly from experienced users who know their way around the internet. There is no doubt that dealing with HP is very difficult. Why do they have this forum anyway.....because they do not want the cost of making adequate resources available to deal with customer queries. They are hoping that others, like you, will save them the expense. Have you seen any response from HP on this thread?

I suggest you get off our high horse and get those feet back on mother earth.

This is getting a little ridiculus.

No one here is an HP employee that I know of. This is a forum for users to post their questions and hopefuly other users will post an aceptable solution. The only reason I am here is because I posted the same question when Windows 10 first came out. I read everything I could find on this site and found a workable solution and posted my solution here for others to see and test. If it works for someone else and helps them that is my only reason for posting. I had no idea that there werent proper drivers available for all the HP printers. I only have one. What concerned me the most is the the link is right at the top of the page and no one else pointed this out, or how simple it is to do a search for available drivers.

The title Tutor is something the forum asigns because I respond to my e-mails and try to answer peoples questions civily. Not because I know everything or anything. Simply because I respond to others and still follow this tread. I could easily turn off notifications and just ignore everyone. It wasnt meant to harass anyone. it was meant to try to help as best I could.

Hi,

Thanks for using the forum.

Try this solution:

 >Enter "View Installed Updates" in the Windows search bar. It will show an option in the Control Panel.

>Click on the shown option.

> Select the "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3132372)" and an Uninstall option will appear next to the Organize dropdown.

> Click on Uninstall and work through any prompts.

> Once uninstalled, Solution Centre should work.

Do take note of this advisory from Microsoft though:

Summary

Microsoft has released a security advisory for IT professionals about vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player in the following web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer in Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10, and Windows 10 version 1511
  • Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 and Windows 10 version 1511

Thank you.  I wasted an hour uninstalling / installing printer software, testing, rebooting, etc.  Your solution worked perfectly!
