I have been scanning for months now on same printer and now it started showing a line going down the page everytime I scan threw the feeder.   I have cleaned the glass and reboot the system but nothing is working????

Model   HP PSC 1315

When I copy or scan, there is a thick black line along the side. There is no problem when I print from the computer.

I looked at your forums about cleaning the glass under the feeder, but this model does not have a feeder.

Thanks

Hello  dovercourt and wakaranai

dovercourt - What printer do you have?

Make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)

I have included a document for the PSC 1315 printer for lines in the scan to troubleshoot.

If these steps don't resolve the issue and your printer is still under warranty then I
would contact HP.

I followed the directions to clean the scanner but now the printer won't grab the document to scan it. Ugh! Help please.

I'm a bit of a technophobe so am new to all of this...

My printer is a Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless (909g) which is out of warrantly, although I only purchased it last week from somebody who had supposedly never used it... Whilst doing the initial set up of it yesterday, I tested it briefly by copying something, the image came out perfect (with the exception of only one printhead working at the time - Blk/Ylw), with no line down it at all...

But today, after downloading the print driver etc to set it up and connect it to my PC,  I seem to be having this very same problem... I have one black vertical line running down the whole page, I have tried cleaning the glass and the backing, and tried cleaning the feeder section too, to no avail... This is happening on copying and scanning...

As I am a technophobe, I dont know whether it is just a coinscidence that the black line has appeared after fully installing the printer, and something has happened in between the time of the initial set up and testing it, and the full installation, or whether is is down to the software I had downloaded... if you know what I mean??

I really would like to attempt to get this matter resolved ASAP, as I have 14 days (now 13) to return the printer if it is not working to my satisfaction...

Thanks

Thanks for the tip.  Worked great.  On my HP 8600 there is a small glass window which reads the info off feeder sourced documents.  That was the dirty culprit. People who clean only the big glass are not doing anything to help stuff which is sent through the feeder.
