Hey @juliesllama,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to offer my assistance today with correcting the photo paper feeding issue that you're experiencing with your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. Thank you for indicating that you have already followed all steps provided in prior posts in this thread. At this time I am going to have you run an additional roller troubleshooting step. Our goal is to add some wear to the rollers to enable them to successfully grab the photo paper and feed it through your printer.
Please load plain white paper in your paper tray. Next, take 1 piece of blank paper and load it on the flatbed glass of your machine. Hit Copy and adjust the number of copies to 50. Once the 50 blank pages feed through your machine and print out, please run another 50 sheet copy test with blank paper. You will not be wasting any ink or paper by doing this test.
Once the copies have completed successfully please try printing on the Photo paper again. Should the issue persist can you please let me know the brand, weight, size, and type (glossy or matte) of photo paper you're printing on. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Hi,
I hope this problem thread is not locked yet.
I have simiar if not the same issue.
It seems that there is a 'grip' issue with the printer.
Initially i needed to print only 3cm x 4cm picture on a larger photo paper
but didnt see any result although it sounded as if the printer is printing something.
Using plain paper, printing result is as expected.
a 3x4 picture on the top left.
I've done the following
1. make a blank copy as you mentioned, cant get 50. max is 20
2. Tried filling the paper tray with several sheets of photo paper
3. print the a full page photo from irfanview software
4. Print result is only printing 2/3rd of the whole photo
5. print another photo this time from mspaint
6. print result only printed out 1/15th (perhaps exaggerated)
of the whole photo.
Any other advice ?
FYI , I am using
OS: windows 7 home premium 64 bit
printer: envy 4500
firmware: MKM1FN1449AR
paper brand: pelikan
size 10cm x 15cm
weight 290g
type: glossy; photo paper premium

Hey @kodockz,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing a printing issue when printing on glossy premium photo paper on your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to offer my assistance today with resolving this photo printing issue. Thank you so much for including all paper and system information. Also, than you for including all of the troubleshooting steps that you have attempted prior to reaching out for additional support. At this time the issue that you're experiencing may be due to a paper weight issue, or a programming Firmware issue within your actual printer. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
The first thing I did after reading your post was cross reference the paper type information that you provided in your post with the specifications for your HP Envy. I found the following:
You state in your post that your glossy photo paper is 290 gms. However, according to the specifications of your machine your printer is meant to handle up to 281 gms. Therefore, unsupported weight may be a factor. The heavier paper may also cause damage to your rollers with regular use in the future. With that being said, to rule out the weight of your current glossy paper as a culprit for this issue we would need to test printing on glossy photo paper that is up to 281 gms. If you have already done so, please let me know the result of printing on lighter glossy paper.
The Firmware Version that your HP Envy is currently using is the latest version. Therefore, no such updates are required. Should lighter paper that is within the specifications of your machine fail to resolve this photo printing issue on the glossy media, than a Semi-Full Programming Reset will need to be performed.
Please let me know the result of testing with lighter media. Good luck! 🙂

Hope this thread is still live!
I'm having the same HP Photopaper not printing problem with my HP Envy 4500. The printer seems to make an initial grab of the paper, but does not drive the paper even though it does 'print' the photo. As with the others, I have to remove the paper jam. My current work around is I cut a slot in the end of a painters stiring stick, load a single sheet of paper in the slot and gently push the paper during the 'initial grab'. Works OK, but, think that 'special' firmware would make our household a lot more peaceful.

Hey @Tinkerer611,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
This thread is alive!
I understand that you are experiencing a paper feed issue when printing photos from your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. I have to admit, I have never heard of anyone else using the workaround that you're using. What a clever idea! I don't think we'll see that step in any HP support documents though At this point I'm going to have you perform some standard troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue once and for all for you.
Step 1: Update Firmware:
To ensure that your HP Envy is running the latest version of Firmware please click here. Once the support document opens please follow the steps under 'Get Printer Updates'. You may have to enable the Web Services on your machine in order to update the Firmware from the front panel. Should you not use your HP Envy over a network connection, than I can provide you with the manual Firmware Update download. However, I will need to know what Operating System you're using on your computer. Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Check Hardware:
Please click here to access the hardware troubleshooting steps. Once the support document opens please run through Solution one, Solution two, and Solution three. This includes any sub-steps under the listed Solutions. Once troubleshooting is complete, please test printing to verify if the paper feed issue is resolved.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should your printing issue persist, can you please include the paper size, weight, and type in your response so I can offer additional support. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Thanks for the help.
I have to admit I REALLY didn't want to go through that preliminary 'Is the paper wrinkled' stuff, but the 'Printer Status Report' caught my eye. Seeing over 2000 pages printed I thought, just maybe, a good cleaning was in order.
The 'unplug and turn over' showed a lot of dust and paper fibers. A microbrush on the vacuum and then the dreaded compressed air did the trick. 4x6 prints look great.

I've had similar problems to other posters here - A4 glossy HP paper wont print properly with the image offset by around two thirds. I've followed all the steps but on checking the paper path cover there are only two white rollers (its the two outer ones that seem to be missing). The others don't seem to be loose inside the printer anywhere. This printer is only 7 or 8 months old - serial no[Personal Information Removed]
. It's never been bumped around and i'd hazard a guess these have been missing from the factory. 4x6 prints fine presumably because the middle two paper path rollers that are there.

Hello @aeronet,
Welcome to the thread!
I understand that your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer is failing to print correctly on A4 paper. Thank you for including the troubleshooting that you have completed and your observation regarding the paper path cover rollers. I agree with you that the two outer rollers that are missing from the paper path cover are likely causing this A4 paper printing issue as those two remaining middle rollers would be able to still grab and feed 4 x 6 in paper fine. With that being said, while the individual rollers are non-replaceable, I believe that the paper path cover is a replaceable part. If not, then a whole unit replacement would be needed to correct this roller defect.
I would recommend at this point that you contact our Technical Support queue by phone to explore hardware replacement options.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
HP Contact Support
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number (A9T80A) on the right.
(2) Choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums. I wish you luck going forward with this! 🙂

Hey @aeronet,
Thanks for the input. I just tried the form myself for the HP Envy 4500 and I got the same result. Our website currently thinks "This product is no longer serviced by HP . . ." Very strange as this printer can still be purchased from the HPshopping.com website and is no where close to being obsolete. At this point I have no support options available from my end. Therefore, I have brought your issue to the attention of the appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.
Best of luck! 🙂
