Hey @4ronald,

Welcome to the thread! 🙂

I see that your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer is experiencing paper jams when printing on glossy everyday photo paper. I would like to assist you today with resolving this photo paper printing issue. Thank you for including the troubleshooting steps that you have completed. Because you have already completed the troubleshooting steps provided in this thread to no avail, the next step would be to perform a Semi-Full Programming Reset on your printer.

At this point I am going to send you a Private Message with the instructions on how to perform the Semi-Full Reset. Please refer to your Private Messages for further instruction.

Best of luck! 🙂

WORST PRINTER EVER MADE!!!!!! TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET!!! It is MISLEADING SAYING IT PRINTS PHOTOS- only 4x6 IF you can actually get it working. Your "SUPPORT" is horrific. Never been able to get the wireless working properly, photo printing is IMPOSSIBLE. I have always bought HP printers and this one is so AWFUL I WANT TO THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW!,,,,,

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!! The Support website is down too- does not give me any faith in HP anymore!!! 3rd printer in 3 years I have had to replace and I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!

Same problem, it prints on plain paper but not on photo paper.  I just downloaded and installed the firmware as suggested. The status page says firmware version is MKM1FN1437AR.

Any further suggestions?

Hey there @J3P,

Welcome to the thread! 🙂

I see that you're not able to print on phone paper from your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. I'd like to assist you today with resolving this issue.

  • What size and type (glossy, matte) of photo paper are you using?

In the meantime, let's try this:

Load plain white paper in your paper tray. Next, take 1 piece of blank paper and load it on the flatbed glass of your machine. Hit Copy and adjust the number of copies to 50. Once the 50 blank pages feed through your machine and print out, please run another 50 sheet copy test with blank paper. You will not be wasting any ink or paper by doing this test.

Once complete, try to print on the photo paper. Let me know how this goes! You may also click the 'thumbs up' icon below to say "thanks for helping!" I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi there!

I'm having this same problem. My photo paper starts to feed and the printer sounds like it is printing, but it gets stuck halfway, no image is printed, and I have to remove the paper jam. I've tried cleaning the feeds and updating firmware. Here are my specs:

230 g/m2 matte photo paper, 8.5 x 11 in

HP Envy 4500

Firmware: MKM1FN1449AR

This printer is relatively new, I've only printed 423 pages. Unfortunately this process has used up a lot of ink and I'm very frustrated. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

I spent total 5 hours with online help about this (total nightmare) and it finally turned out that the cheaper and lighter the glossy paper you use the better it works. After trying high quality, weighty gloss paper I then tried tesco value glossy paper and it worked perfectly. Try that.

Hey there @Anna5678,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you're experiencing issues when trying to print on 230 g/m2 matte photo paper on your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer.

  • Have you experienced this issue with any other photo paper?

If not, the issue may lie with the type of paper you're using. The weight does not appear to be an issue as the printer specifications clearly state that your product supports up to 281 gms (75 lb) letter size paper in the tray.

If so, I suggest that you give our phone team a call to explore hardware options. Click here for contact options. Once the site opens select your location. Please call the number provided.

Please let me know the result of trying other paper. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂
