Hi. I suddenly started getting this error message when printing from my hp LaserJet 1536 dnf. It happened once before and I had to do a reinstall of the drivers. To my knowledge, this .dll has to do with the HP msn toolbar, a preloaded feature I don't use.

My system info is a s follows:

HP Probook 4730s

Intel Core i&-2630QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz

8 GB RAM

Windows & Professional x64

Printer: HP LaserJet 1536 dnf, connected via USB

Any help will be greatly apppreciated!

Hello,

Thanks for the post.  With this one, I might suggest installing the driver software again, (Ugh, I know) only this time, in the installer, there is an option to remove the checkmark to have the MSN toolbar installed.  Many will jump through the installation so quickly that they don't even realize it's there.  Once removed and installed, you should not encounter this error again.  Good Luck!

I work for HP but my posts and replies are my own....Thank you!

Thanks for the tip. However, I tried to reinstall using the full-featured installer downloaded from hp drivers and downloads. I checked through all the advanced options and didn't find ANY mention of the MSN toolbar. Also, I quickly remebered that for some reason, getting this particular driver installed on this particular PC fails more often thn not. I don't remeber now how I finally manged it last time...

In any case, I did a system restore and thankfully the problem has disappered (at least for the time being....)

Are you installing the printer from the installation CD or from a download?

How are you connecting the printer to the computer?

HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many printing, scanning, and connectivity problems: The HP Print and Scan Doctor. HP recommends that you download and install the Print and Scan Doctor any time you need to troubleshoot a problem with your HP printer from the link below.

Let me know what errors you receive?

Was there ever a resolution posted for this issue?  I have the same issue.  I have tried reinstalling the software, which did not work.  I am running Windows 8 Pro.  Thanks

Go to the printer properties.

Device Settings.

Printer Status Notification: Disabled.

Typically this helps.

Good luck.

last suggestion in the post I was looking at suggested I go to print properties.   I can't get to print properties because of hpmsn101.dll not working.   Darn, this is madening.   I just want to be able to automatically print duplex.

Ditto-If the printer "Properties" tab is no longer functioning it is impossible to now choose duplex, etc.  I've reinstalled the HP drivers via CD...(PS this Always needs to be done every time my Toshiba updates its Windows 7)...they seem incompatible.  But this is the first time this "properties" issue has occurred, and manually trying to duplex to save the environment is painstaking!
