Hi @taribat,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you cannot print in black, after replacing the black cartridge, with your HP Officejet 5610. I am sorry to hear this, but I am happy to help!

Please take a look through this guide, Printed Colors Are Not the Colors Expected.

If this still does not resolve your issue, please call our phone support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Country-language selector.

Hope this helps! Smiley Happy

Nada...the link you gave me isn't the problem I'm having. the printer will not use black ink to copy or printing from the computer. will only scan using the color black. it does use every other color when copying or printing from the computer.

I've had the same problem with the 564 black ink cartridges for my 7510 about a year ago.  I met 2 people in the ink isle at a store today that reported same problem.   I found a temporary fix a year ago online search that required I use a safety pin to clear out the thin grooves on the top of the cartridges.  I began printing again, but it was temporary fix, and no longer works.  Did HP change the manufactures of the 564 cartridges within the last year?

Hi taribat, and macrowley,

taribat: I would recommend trying a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1.

Then, I would make sure to see if any of your cartridges are low or empty. If so, then replace the cartridge(s). If that does no resolve the issue, please call our phone support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Country-language selector

macrowley: since you have a HP Photosmart 7510, here are two suggestions for you:

Please see this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in....

If that guide does not work, try soaking the printhead, for instructions, please see this post, Re: black ink not working, by @Bob_Headrick.

If neither of those solutions work for you, then please call our phone support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Country-language selector

Hope this clears things up for the both of you, and have a great day! Smiley Happy
