Hi Olere ,

I would like to suggest this guide: Wireless HP Printer Prints a Partial Page or Fails to Print All Pages in Windows 8. It is a compilation of the steps afford in this thread: Missing/partial prints & Printer Offline on Windows 8/8.1. I offered this first link in my last post here, let me know the results from your attempt.

I also had same problems.  It would work and then go 'offline'.

Try :

Select Settings on PRINTER Display.   It will ask for name of network and password.  Enter both on the PRINTER display.

I believe I had done this on my computer but it had to be done on PRINTER display.   When I had done this online greeen light went from blinking to solid and I was able to print.  Hope this helps.  We've all wasted hours on this.

Hi similar problem here

I have fibre inter net to a router which also connects to a desktop via CAT5 cable and to other devices via wireless, including HP4500  printer and a laptop.

The wireless laptop frequently reports HP ENVY (wireless) printer is offline even when the desktop is printing successfully (via cable to router then via wireless to printer).

I usually restore print service to the wireless laptop by power down and repower the printer. Reboot of wireless laptop does not enable printing.

When offline problem is present HP diagnostics running on laptop report no problem and seems able to communicate with printer successfully.

I am not an expert so cannot suggest a solution but very disappointed with product.

I have owned the printer about 4 months. problem did not occur initially but started more recently, I think maybe after a software upgrade was installed in printer but cant be absolutely sure.

help needed

Hello Bryan111,

I understand you are experiencing issues with an ENVY series printer and its ability to wireless print from a laptop, I would like it any way I can.

Although this guide: Wireless HP Printer Prints a Partial Page or Fails to Print All Pages in Windows 8, does not state it address the error offline, it is great wireless printing troubleshooting.

If the main section, steps 1-3 do not resolve, work on the steps under work around. Let me know the results!

Have followed the steps at the above link, to no avail.  I need to print directlyl through the wireless network.  How frustrating to have a printer that will not print.  Yet when I send things to my hpeprint.com address, it will print that.  I have always had good results with HP printers, but this is ridiculous and has gone on for months.  It makes me want to swear off HP printers completely.  Why is it so hard to figure this out?

The BEST fix for OFFLINE status is to simply PULL THE POWER PLUG.  Wait a minute or so, then plug it back in.

Yes, I know that everything we are taught says that systems should be properly shut down.  Don't do that here!

I have found this works even for print jobs previously sent to the ENVY and not printed.  Yes, I did read all that stuff about Codes (if you haven't done this, yes, that works, but if you have already done that, and still have OFFLINE, continue here) and how to go into all the different places and make changes. NONE of the ones I tried before exhaustion set in worked.  Pulling the plug works.  Disregard error messages you get, such as go to the desktop, the printer needs your attention, printer offline (again), etc. The system finds the printer, or the printer finds the system, or whatever, but I never have to reconnect, reset, change settings, reinstall, or reload anything.  Not even the paper or the print job.

HP should fix this, but carry on.  You are not defeated as long as you can reach the plug.

For those of you who can't get your printer to STAY ONLINE, try this.  I called HP help desk 4 times with no resolution.  I found this fix myself, and it works!  The directions are for a MAC, but can be easily adapted for Window users.

In the print queue, which shows the document which won't print, select 'printer' then 'properties' from the drop down menu.

In  'Printer Properties' select the tab, 'Ports'.

Select 'Add Port...' choose the one which displays your printer name.

In the 'Add Port' window, select 'Auto Detection'.   Wait a moment until the 'Model' 'Mac address' and 'IP Address' fields are automatically filled.

Select the completed line and press the 'next' button and follow the prompts.

Sorry wrong post

The solution worked for a few days, but eventually failed.  I bought a Canon printer a few weeks ago and have not had 1 single problem.  HP was not helpful in finding a permanent solution.
